Legal Immigration: Where Trump and Cruz Radically Disagree
Breitbart ^ | August 21, 2015 | staff

Posted on 08/21/2015 6:43:26 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

At Bloomberg, Sahil Kapur explains that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 96% disagrees with Donald Trump about legal immigration:

Though Cruz’s get-tough attitude on illegal immigration certainly matches Trump’s, the two men differ vastly on policies involving legal immigration. While the real estate mogul’s plan calls for a swath of protectionist measures to curb legal immigration, Cruz has championed anexpansion of legal immigration, arguing it would help the economy.

During the 2013 immigration debate, the Texas senator proposed an amendment to the comprehensive “gang of eight” Senate bill that he boasted would “dramatically increas[e]” the annual limit on H-1B skilled guest worker visas from—65,000 to 325,000—a five-fold expansion. ...............

He doesn't mention even one of them as a credential.
How could he? He's on a sub-committee. BFD

I don’t trust any of these people. ALL of them have a history of pro-amnesty statements. NONE of them expressed any concern about the negative effects of legal immigration until the campaign started.

Post #1. Walker is now the only potential or declared GOP presidential candidate to discuss the negative effects of a massive increase in legal immigration on American workers

If Walker falls down in a forest, does he make a sound?

I agree and you can look at my history of posts and you can see that I say that this is an invasion.

You will also see that I do not call illegals “immigrants” like you do. I call them illegal invading grass crawling invaders. I believe you are soft on “immigration” and need to take a tougher stance or leave America. These illegals invaders are not immigrants so call them for what they are.

And you will see from my post you replied to that I say shutdown legal immigration for 5 years and get our house in order.

So what are you posting in RED to me about? Why are you so angry at me? Why don’t you calm the eff down and take a deep breath?

Once you realize that these immigrants are really illegal invaders and not immigrants I think you will be on the right track

There is no shortage of tech workers in the US ,, I have managed large teams of them. The problems they present are huge but employers like mine (a Bell co.) and MS / Google / (hundreds of others) use them to replace Americans and lower wage structures across the board.. What’s wrong with my take? Do you not understand that Cruz is insulated by his profession and the bar? The bar will not allow American lawyers to be replaced with imports...

I’d like to see a reasoned response from you ,, not just calling my post a “dumb ass childish response”... Give me your take on why Cruz supports putting ever more Americans out of work and destroying all incentives for Americans to even earn a degree in computer science. Is he getting donations from corps. that want H1-b increases? Does he just not understand the issue? Is this posturing to be able to say “We want talented immigrants (I know H1-b is technically a non immigrant visa but many find a way to stay) not Guatemalan dishwashers.”

Put on your big boy pants and give me a thoughtful response.

Your first response WAS childish...the notion that he doesn’t care about tech jobs because he’s an attorney is just about the dumbest thing I’ve heard around here in a while. Your first response had no intellectual heft whatsoever, and was just an estrogen dripping rant.

Now in your second response you actually got into some substance, but again you could’t help yourself, you had to trash the man’s character and your assumption is that he is trying to destroy Americans. Again, beneath middle school girl bitchiness.

So I stand by my assessment of your first response - that it was nothing but a childish rant. As for who’s right? I don’t know for sure. But after watching you debate it, I’d say Cruz is much smarter than you and I’d say maybe you are the one being selfish and self serving here.

**********
Perhaps he is , I only have a 138 IQ and escaped the rat race last year.. but he wants to increase H1-b’s by 400% overnight when there is no shortage of Americans with the talent the employers are looking for. There are too many here already and they are used simply to depress wages.

Perhaps your thinking is in a vacuum... maybe you haven’t dealt with this problem.

Explain to me why we need more of what we already have too much of? Is that a logical thought? If it isn’t simply to appease donors does he really believe what he says?

For a 138 your reading comp is a bit shaky - I never said Cruz was necessarily right or wrong - I said your childish rant about Cruz not caring about high tech workers because he’s a lawyer was pathetic. And it was. And still is.

Why do you think he has the wrong info on this? Why do you think your info is right? And BTW, 400% is not gonna happen overnight. Again, for a 138, you must have left about 50 of them at home....

“has it ever occurred to you that with declining birth rates, our economy cannot grow without immigration?

Look at what happens to countries, like Europe, where populations are shrinking. Look at Detroit and other American cities where the same thing is happening. Regardless of why, declining birth rates and populations are economic disasters for those already there.”

It seems to me that until all American citizens looking for work are employed, we should focus on that. Then we can look at immigration. Do you think if there was a moritorium on immigration that immigrants would decide to stop trying to come to the US? I seriously doubt it. There will always be many more people wishing to come than we should allow.

I think you have an unrealistic understanding of the labor/unemployment situation. I’m guessing you’ve never had to staff a blue collar enterprise for a couple decades.

A couple of decades, no. For several years a motor pool, civilian workers. Prior to that, for several years a credit bureau. I do know even then in a good economy, there were more people looking for jobs than openings.

Particularly now, with half of blacks and teens unemployed, adults working at McDonalds and Walmart because there is nothing else available, we do not need more immigrants.

Almost 30 years of experience dealing with this issue...

But then I looked up some of your articles on American Thinker ... and you are consistent ,, lightweight banality without originality,, seems like you use Freep for story ideas and research... This one was pretty much representative.. http://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2014/04/but_seriously_just_how_slowwitted_is_john_boehner.html

I was commenting on the actual issue ... you did not and have not addressed the issue but rather take the Progressive road ,,, attacking without substance... and you brag about it ?? “I never said Cruz was necessarily right or wrong...” ... well then what are you doing here? Just decided to start mouthing off without any intention of adding any value to a conversation?

Drop and give me 20!

yeah, Newsmax and Breitbart and Talk Radio network think so too.... Actually, I was four years ahead of FREEP nation on Trump. Four years and a few months. I might embarrass you with some of my "banal" and unoriginal stuff. You need to check the date stamps of some of that stuff and figure out how far ahead I was. ON Palin, on the Tea Party, on the GOP establishment. And yes, on this (please note you through out the insult banal....

Now in addition to banal, you said un original. You must mean cutting edge, way ahead of the curve. Like this: please note date, note how I said in two places he was schooling the Republicans. Had you even heard of him then?

The issue was your ridiculous assertion that Cruz - as a lawyer, doesn’t give a damn about tech workers. Your implication was that he was sabotaging tech workers intentionally. That’s the issue, AND YOU ARE THE ONE WHO HAS NOT ADDRESSED THAT.

As for H1B as an issue, I said I wasn’t sure who was right...him or you...and that’s the case. I simply said your emotional rant was absurd and it is.

You subsequently came back with some actual information on the issue, but you still have presented no evidence that your original assertion was correct. So, why do you think Cruz hates tech workers as an attorney? I’m waiting....

BTW: here is Cruz explanation: http://www.cruz.senate.gov/?p=video&id=298

It is not ignorance to admit when one is not sure of the facts of an issue - it’s called mature prudence. What is not mature, nor prudent, is the claim you are right on an issue - but then attack the character of those who disagree with you.

If you actually have the facts, you don’t do that. You obviously didn’t have the facts, so you attacked Cruz character and his motivations.

NEGATIVE great swami Wright... I have the knowledge and facts but I’m not here to educate someone who has blissfully ignored something so critical for two decades or more.. you can bring yourself up to speed on your own time.. you’re not worth the effort. I do appreciate that you admitted that you are just mouthing off and have no reason to be on a particular thread... I find your major character flaw... (that you always need to have the last word DESPITE proclaimed ignorance) amusing...

Go read a book and skip “Adult Swim” tonight.
