Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on Tuesday staked out her opposition to Arctic oil exploration, a day after the Obama administration gave Royal Dutch Shell (RDSa.L) final approval to drill off Alaska.
"The Arctic is a unique treasure," Clinton said in a Twitter post. "Given what we know, it's not worth the risk of drilling."
On Monday, the Obama administration gave Shell final approval to resume drilling into the oil zone off northern Alaska for the first time since 2012.
Shell obtained the leases during the administration of former President George W. Bush.

Treasure? Frozen? Can’t produce food. Cold. Inhabitable? What good is it except for energy. Might as well do something with it.
But I would have to assume she harbors adolescent fantasies of shimmering snow and sled dogs. Whatever.
The question about is this: What is really behind the opposition? It has to be money and politics. That means Soros has a scheme to make money. When Soros has a scheme that means harnessing politicians.
Where they want to drill is a wasteland. Has any travel agent ever put a tour of this place together? Do any people live there? Do any people want to visit there? Are there amazing architectural landmarks within a thousand miles? There is unique treasure there...it is below ground and needs to be drilled for.
Ok...I laughed.
President Reagan would have been drilling yesterday or sooner.
Here’s a promotional video of the ‘treasure’:

He-He...I see what you did there...
I watched a documentary on Netflix the other night on how climate change is affecting the Antarctic. It had breathtaking footage. I really came away with the impression that the Antarctic is a unique treasure. The thought even past my mind how wonderful it would to be to visit Antarctica. That was how I felt about the documentary. What I thought on the other hand was completely different. I was waiting for proof of the impact of climate change. There was none. Everything was geared towards the future and the need for more scientific data. Antarctica, it was said, is vast and there is only a drop of data given its size. There was not a single piece of evidence. But maybe after five more years of research they will begin to understand the impact of climate change.
These people, including Hillary have no idea what they are talking about. The science isn't even superficially serious.
It’s a given that she knows very little. And besides, the Saudis probably don’t like it.
HRC: “Given what we know, it’s not worth the risk of drilling.”
Procon: What exactly do we know?
Based upon her opposition, Royal Dutch Shell has not paid bribe money to the Clintoon foundation.
Facts:
1 - We’ve tried Arctic drilling and it’s proven worth the risk.
2 - We’ve tried Hillary in positions of power and it’s proven NOT worth the risk.
(this could be a 2 frame campaign ad)
So 1) She is against Arctic drilling but 2)She won’t comment on Keystone until she is President.
Check.
Hillary has the Russians quaking in their boots.
Vladimir Putin was laughing too hysterically to be available for comment..
“...of frostbite.”
The Arctic is a unique treasure,
Unique? Except for polar bears, what does the Arctic have that the Antarctic hasn’t? /s;)
As a famous insurance ad said, “The worst risk is not taking one”.
