Christian man stabbed on busy street after sharing beliefs on homosexuality

OTTAWA, August 17, 2015 (LifeSiteNews) -- A 26-year-old Mennonite missionary was violently stabbed in the back on Friday by a pro-LGBTQ woman who became aggressive after he shared with her his Christian beliefs regarding homosexuality.

“The confrontation was about the idea of homosexuality…if that’s OK, if that’s acceptable, and whether God loves somebody who is in that state. And we assured her that he does,” said Eric Brubacher, a member of the Mennonite community who was present during the attack, to CTV.

The unnamed victim was rushed to the hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries and then released. The attacker fled the scene of the crime.

The stabbing occurred in the Byward Market area three days prior to the opening of Ottawa’s “Pride Week” where homosexuality is celebrated and promoted openly with parties and a parade.

The Maranatha Conservative Mennonite Church had traveled to Ottawa from Drayton, Ontario for three days of evangelization through singing and handing out Gospel literature. Friday was the community’s first day.

Christians believe that God created marriage to be between a man and woman for the sake of procreating and raising children. Basic tenets of Christianity hold that the sexual act can only rightfully and morally take place within marriage.

Following Scripture and natural law Christianity views homosexual acts as contrary to God’s plan for men and women, marriage, and sexuality. Many Christians believe they are following the Gospel of Jesus Christ when they maintain that they love the person who struggles with same-sex attraction while at the same time holding that engaging in homosexual behaviors and practices are sinful in the eyes of God, dangerous, and unhealthy.

Ottawa Police are looking for the attacker, who is described as white, 22 years of age, of slim build, and sporting blond hair with pink highlights.

An Ottawa Police spokesperson told LifeSiteNews that as of Monday morning the attacker had not yet been apprehended. The investigation is still ongoing.

While the community has already extended forgiveness to the attacker, it is not yet known at this point if the victim will press charges. The community’s pastor was not available for comment.

Interesting that libs who say they are Darwinists believe that homosexuality is ‘normal’ in any way. Obviously ‘gay genes’ (which, of course don’t exist) would be selected out of a population over time.

To your point, the Bible says that God “gave them over” to their unnatural lusts. Homosexuality IS the punishment.

From a scientific and medical standpoint, homosexual life expectancy is something like two decades shorter than heteros. It’s worse than smoking.

Yet, it’s something to celebrate?

It’s a curse and should be regarded as such.

More proof that “tolerance” is a one way street with liberals.

Our beloved niece came out of the closet a few years ago. Everything about her has changed. Her countenance, voice, interests, ability to laugh...all very different.

Her family is powerless to help her. They work to stay in contact and keep her close, but will not allow her “partner” in their home. However, even her sister, a psychologist, doesn’t see her as mentally ill. They just see her as blinded by sin, caught up in an emotionally and physically abusive relationship.

From what I have read and from what I have personal experience regarding, lesbians are very different creatures from homosexual males.

Most Lesbians are either ugly, and are generally ignored or rejected by males, or have been abused by males (often their father) in some fashion or another. What is very rare is for a beautiful young woman who has not been involved in bad relationships to turn "lesbian", but this has become increasingly popular because of the propaganda effects of the TV/Movie industry at projecting these ideas. It has actually been something of a fad for the last 8 years or so.

But most Lesbians are either unattractive or abused.

Yeah, they tend to have mental problems as a result.

She is, well was, quite pretty. Enough that a couple of guys my husband coached commented on her. As far as I know, there was no abuse. Her dad is calm man, kind yet strong in his beliefs. Her mom, is a bit tougher-but still not abusive as far as I know. It really is a puzzle.

The only thing I can think of is that they were so incredibly careful about dating, that she didn’t even go on a date until she was in her twenties.

Her sisters both married their first real boyfriends-she obviously went in a completely different direction. They also chose friends who are Christian, attend church and live for God. She rejected the values she was taught, chose to associate with her rebellious co-workers and avoided church for years.

This is a little confusing. The LifeSite article suggests that the motive for the assault was that the church was preaching against homosexuality, whereas the CTV affiliate local to the church (in southwestern Ontario) suggests rather that "the woman was unhappy with the church's acceptance of homosexuality."

Another blog I came across suggests that the assailant was an LGBT supporter who was upset with the mission group and didn't accept their statement that God accepted gays. Obviously the facts are rather sketchy at this point.

For some reason, though, missionaries who sing and hand out literature instead of preaching a solid Gospel don't strike me as the more conservative kind of Christian.

Compound that with the fact that on a weekend night, the Byward Market can be full of assorted drunks, crazies, and partiers who potentially can go off on you for any reason. I have a friend who preaches there, and he's had threats, his signs destroyed, and some other minor aggressiveness. Fortunately, the local police know him and probably keep an eye out for him.

I don’t think that most pagan societies ever recognized marriage between two people of the same sex either. The concept is bizaar, unhuman and irrational

Is homosexuality punishment for something else...

the person or persons did?

21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools ...

24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie,and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised.Amen.

26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

Then I would suggest she has been influence by the entertainment media's portrayal of homosexuality as "normal." Most of my kids have just gotten out of high school, and I still have one in high school now, but a few years back it was all the rage for the kids to be declaring themselves "gay" or "bi".

Most of that nonsense has stopped in my area, but there for a little while it had become a popular fad. No doubt it influenced some people to step over the line while it was popular. I suspect your niece may have been one of these.

Justice Scalia pointed out a couple months ago during the arguments that ancient Greece and Rome were both very tolerant of homosexuality; however, they NEVER recognized same-sex marriage.

Not pressing charges gives these attackers tacit APPROVAL to do it again.

Most homosexuals are mentally unstable and a large percentage of them are prone to violence.

I can vouch for that. One homosexual man that I know tried to choke his elderly father for writing him out of his will (for being violent.)

“A homosexual relationship was always ok with there leaders in society as long as it consisted of a person of high social standing penetrating some one of low social standing like a slave or a young boy.”

No, not ALWAYS.

Greek civilization rose and fell just like many others. Nations often began with a strong moral foundation but then strayed into perversion, violence, and lawlessness.

When things like this are tolerated, it is clearly the end of the rise and fall cycle.

I believe they become ugly by their choice of behavior - overeating, wearing bizarre, masculine styles, getting pierced and tattooed, etc.

But innate ugliness in itself isn't sufficient explanation. Most unattractive women don't become lesbians. But your point is taken. Rejection is a big motivator.

I'm glad to hear this, especially that they won't allow her "partner" in close proximity to the family on family turf. Once this bulwark is breached, the infection is very hard to stem. Most families once wisely followed this course with a willfully defiant, rebellious child, to insulate weaker members in the household and to hold the moral line. When we started being more "compassionate" and "accepting," it was taken as agreement and the behavior becomes more militant and in-your-face.

It has been an almost unbearable road for them, but their other daughters stand firm with them-love their sister but will not condone her behavior.

That helps them tremendously.
