I agree with your post.
I understand the anger toward Washington and the desire to see the GOP tank. But if we elect a Democrat to do it, we cut off our noses to spite our faces.
That anger must be channeled...intelligently and with discernment.
I’ve recognized Trump as a gasbag bloviator since the first time I laid eyes on him. Until recently that was the prevailing opinion of him here on FR.
But all of a sudden people are comparing him to Jesus, William Wallace, Winston Churchill...and now he’s better than Reagan, LOL.

I could care less if Trump wins or loses, as I am for Cruz.
If Trump wins the nomination, though, I’ll happily vote for him.
My wife is a LEGAL immigrant, and the stuff we went through to get her here (a medical check, three years of my tax returns, almost $1,000, three months, a police check) made me VERY anti-illegal immigration. When I tell people our story, they nod in assent because they see the unfairness of illegal immigration - there is no record of these people, where they come from, if they pay any tax, and we all know they’re getting welfare. Furthermore, unlike us, since they have no paper trail or SSN#, if they get in trouble or use up too much credit, they can disappear into the shadows again, change their names, and sucker someone else.
It’s something I’m glad Trump is talking about, because then the MEDIA has to address it.
And he’s also said “bring them back because some of them do jobs that Americans don’t want to do and give them legalized status”, basically.
Again, if the man says anything that contradicts HIMSELF, even slightly, is that something we’re supposed to ignore?
Obama might have been the only candidate (I don’t recall) who promised no lobbyists in his administration. That didn’t happen either.
Look, I’ve come to a quick realization that at this point anyone who’s all in for Trump isn’t going to back away. That’s fine, I guess.
But it’s marvelously frustrating to discuss this stuff. I’m trying to make a point about being careful of believing what ANYONE says at face value, and I get a response back, “Well Trump is the the only one who SAYS”.

Look, I get it. The border and illegal immigration is a big problem. Aside from the lawlessness, aside from the loss of jobs and stagnation of wages, aside of the danger, we had over 500 kids this past year contract this mysterious illness that killed some, that temporarily paralyzed some that I GUARANTEE was brought here by illegals. We had Kate Steinle murdered. We’ve had others murdered.
Yeah, if Donald put a wall up and deported every illegal (which I’m not convinced he’s actually going to do or maybe even CAN do)that would do a lot for America.
But if that’s really ALL people want, well it’s not ALL I want. He can put the wall up but if he still governs like a big government, temperamental little man who continues to preside over the erosion of constitutional freedoms and liberties- first and foremost religious liberties as far as I’m concerned, than “Yay we got a wall but we’re still screwed in other ways.”
I’ll back the most conservative, biggest respecter and defender of the constitution, and good Christian candidate until he’s either nominated and elected or until he’s out of the race.
Trump worked with Sessions on immigration? That’s good. That’s probably the right guy. But of the two, I’d probably rather see Sessions running for president. I just think there’s more evidence to back up and tell me where he actually stands.

Cruz is merely taking the high road and not criticizing Trump on anything. He’s backed him up on the immigration talk, sure. But he’s also said he looks forward at some point to debating some of the positions Trump has taken in the past that he doesn’t agree with.
Being a newly minted progressive means never having to say they’re sorry.
