Donald Trump may soon do what Republican leaders have been asking the billionaire candidate to do -- pledge not to run as an independent candidate for president, a senior Trump adviser told ABC News.

Trump refused to take that pledge at the start of Thursday's GOP debate but is now seriously considering promising not to run as an independent if he does not win the Republican nomination, the adviser said.

Well if lots of others join him (I will) in not watching Foxnews then Foxnews will see a decline in their ratings, which translates into a decline in revenue. A decline in revenue will hurt them. See, that was not all that hard to figure out :)

“He should run in both party’s primaries.”

So when he wins both nominations does that make him president by default? Or does he have to run against himself? Can he choose two different VP running mates?

I don’t wish anything. The guy is a liberal. The longer he is allowed in the GOP running, the more damage he does.

No matter who wins the Republican nomination we must tuck in pride and all vote for that person if necessary.

I live in a purple state and held my nose and voted for McCain and Romney. If the GOPe selects Jeb I'm 100% certain I will sit the election out.

Sore loser laws box him in pretty soon anyway

I'm unsure of that. It may be that if you actually win the state's primary then you can't be a sore loser, while if you lose the primary then you can be.

i.e. If he wins the Texas primary and later is denied the nomination at the convention perhaps he can be on the ballot in Texas as a 3rd party candidate... I'm not certain and if anyone knows for sure I'd like to hear from them.

The law may state that if you LOSE a Texas state party primary then you cannot be on the ballot under another party's banner... it may not address the question of what is allowed if you actually WIN the primary.

You are probably right. Negotiation is part of who he is, and he knows that you don’t throw away one of your most valuable assets just because people are being hysterical. We may never know what the other end of the deal is, but you can be certain that he won’t just give in.

You are wishing he will stay stuck in that position, so that your condemnation will hold.

But what if your fate was that of Inspector Javert?

My condemnations? You mean actually looking at what he’s saying? The guy is a liberal. Sorry. He is.

I just want to see Trump win the nomination and not go off into the weeds. He will win a general election if we can just get him to it.

Didn’t Trump admit, during the debate, that he gives money to buy favors? Isn’t that the definition of a politician? Doing things for favors?

One thing missed by many is that, beyond political convictions, Trump is an opportunist.

He has stumbled into a huge opportunity. If he respects it — and I regard efforts to prejudge that he WON’T respect it with a jaundiced eye — then we will have seen something larger than Trump operating to bring America back from the brink of insanity. Can we think beyond the one dimensional line of liberal/conservative to the many dimensional will of God, and of the people?

Will it establish paradise? No. But nobody asked it to do so. He’s probably an agnostic. And so if the President of the USA does not do my own theological thinking? So if I have to do it myself? Is that such a disaster?

Please congratulate, not me, but the concept of an open mind. Of course we don’t want a lot of the things Trump has espoused in the past. But I don’t think it is fair to paint Trump as inevitably frozen there if he spots an opportunity of the will of the people, which tends to be more conservative than most of our current politicians.
