Chris Wallace tapped the black three-ring binder resting on the corner of his desk. Ive got some doozies in there, he said, eyebrow raised provocatively.
The unlabeled binder holds the veteran Fox News anchors questions for Thursdays Republican primary debate, for which he will serve as a moderator. Clamped inside it are newspaper clippings, memos to his researcher and outlines of what the hodgepodge of presidential candidates vying to top the GOP field have been saying about the issues and about each other.
It has become a primary-season ritual for Wallace, a fixture at Fox News for more than a decade, to challenge and goad the packed roster of Republican candidates. But this debate in Cleveland, the first of the 2016 election season, may be in a league of its own.

I don’t think they’re the meme or narrative any more. It’s the Hispanic vote.
Indeed, and in response, I would love Trump to pull proof out of his pocket that Wallace had coordinated his questions with the Bush campaign.
Its all about ratings folks, the candidates and the TV network. I wonder how many people will REALLY be watching this TV circus.
I get the feeling Fox has it in for “some” of them...if you know what I mean
Hopefully Cruz and trump are practicing “The Bryce Harper Response”:
That’s a clown question, bro.
Gee, guess the ‘journolistors’ can’t just have the issues debated, they are going to be too busy playing ‘gotchya’
Why do the GOP always allow liberals to moderate GOP debates?
In GOP debates, questions like:
“Do you hate blacks or Mexicans more?”
“How soon are you going take welfare and foodstamps away from the poor?”
“At what age do you think old people should quit receiving healthcare?”
“When do you think the war with Iran, Russia and China should start?”
In Democrat Debate, questions include:
“How long do you think it will take for your policies, should you be elected, to raise the sea level?”
“How rich will all Americans be should you be elected to govern the nation as president?”
“What will you do to silence the evil republicans that are killing the middle class in this country?”
Next debate: run of the mill JournoLister Jake Tapper and ultraRINO Hugh Hewitt.
Meggie can hardly control her hatred of Trump on the air.
The RNC and Reince Prebius aka Rinsed Penis and KStreet traitors on the Hill will be praying it happens .
Conservatives are waiting to see if Trump flames out or if he’s going to go the distance. There are others...Cruz, Carly, who are worthy of support but are being actively sabotaged by the mediots. We’ll see if Cruz can break out tonight. He’s going to have to gain some major ground at the expense of the others (excluding Trump). Kaisich has possibilities too based on his past in congress but he has gone squishy of late.
Supporting Trump in an opinion poll is a long way from actually voting for Trump. So, for now let Trump clear out the riff-raff (Pataki, Graham, Huckster, Santorum and Christie) hind all should get out too. He’s a good guy but has no political capital to spend and can only tarnish his reputation if he stays in.
It’s never a debate instead it is a “cheap shot” festival.
This is why these debates sucks.
There shouldn’t be more than 2 or 3 topics in a 90 minute debate with 10 candidates. Immigration, Iran, and maybe ObamaCare. That’s it. Spend 30 minutes on each
We are basically going to get 30 second soundbites from everybody on a dozen different issues and there will be no “debate”.
Gotcha questions....(sad)
Wallace is a commie just like his dear old dad.
I agree 100%. He’s just like his old man.
The only tough/trick questions I expect are going to be the ones directed at Trump.
I think he considers himself a compassionate republican, you know, the kind that goes for every lefty idea and spends that way too.
Chris: “Mr. Trump, what is the name of the middle son of the president of Burkina Faso?”
