Manchester, N.H. Rick Perry got a second shot at answering the question that derailed his 2012 presidential campaign Monday night.
Speaking at a candidate forum here at St. Anselms College, Perry was asked: Specifically, what agencies would you either eliminate or cut?
Ive heard this question before, Perry cracked, to laughter. He has indeed.
The question infamously stumped him in a debate in 2011, when he listed two agencies and then appeared to forget the third. The oops that followed did as much as anything else to sink his White House bid that cycle.
This time, Perry did not lose track of his thoughts halfway through his answer. . . .
"We have to cut spending. And I know a little bit about cutting spending. We had a $10 million budget shortfall in my state in 2003, and we went in there and we made those cuts . . . We cut that $10 million out of our budget, we cut our regulatory climate down, we made it fair, we made it predictable, and the result of that was health care that exploded across the state of Texas. And we had the access to health care. And two years later [when] we went into session . . . we had [an] $8 million budget surplus. Thats what you can do in this country. I believe in this country."
But he did not mention a single government agency, either.

Too little, too late for Gov LaRaza Goodhair.
True!
A $10 million shortfall? For the state of Texas?
That’s a rounding error.
So, instead of locking up, he evaded the question.
Impressive.
Seems like there’s some sure bet losers gonna be on the platform Thursday night. Maybe time to brew up some popcorn and have a few laughs. Are these peoples egos that friggin’ big that they can’t grasp the fact that there is absolutely no way they can win?(uh, yeah) Reality check there asshats.
Rick won’t mention the nearly 1 billion taxpayer dollars he had tied up in his abysmmally performing crony capitalist corporate welfare ETF/TEF slush fund when he was Governor, however.
Or allowing his cronies to build these GD toll roads and engineer them so that if you do not take one the adjacent non-toll route takes you freaking forever and you hit every light along the way.
Whoop-te-dooooo.
They don’t need to win. Being a former presidential candidate is a resume enhancer in the DC cesspool of lobbyists and crony capitalists.
So basically what you’re saying is CHA CHING$$$$. :>} “And now, former gopE presidential candidate XXXXX.” “How about a round of clapping”. Is this a great country or what. And the lemmings will submit that these folks are just brilliant. Simply brilliant. Er, NO!
Not one of these erstwhile candidates could come up with a single agency they could bear to shutter. That’s the problem. Trump is right all talk and no action.
But notice how they all have a plan to cut SS, Medicare and raise the retirement age. No problemo.
Lololol....yep, I remember....save a pretzel for the gas jets....ice cream.
Which one is going to build the fence?
There was still a lot of money sitting in the rainy day fund.
SAVE A PRETZEL FOR THE GAS JETS. LOL
Most know they cannot win. Their job is to be the hatchet men for Bush,
so Bush can pretend to be above the fray.
The will do Bush’s dirty work, so Bush does not have to.
What is so hard about that question?
DHS should be shut down and any necessary agencies (like the Coast Guard) returned to their original departments.
Agencies that are an affront to freedom (like the BATFE) should be shut down.
Also to be shut down are the Departments of Energy, Education, Labor, Commerce, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, Transportation, and Veteran Affairs (given the continuing VA hospital scandals, the whole thing needs to.
Most of these have completely failed at their jobs, anyway.
Finally, the Department of Defense will be renamed back to the Department of War. Need to give those fellows a hint as to what their job actually is.
