Apartment rents are up. So are prices for restaurant meals, haircuts, gym memberships and a cup of coffee.

For consumers who have become used to flat or even falling prices for years, an unfamiliar sight has emerged in many corners of the economy: Inflation is ticking up.

Not only have prices gone up but the amount you buy has decreased. We call it Obamasizing around here. It is when the 16 oz. can you used to buy suddenly becomes 13.5 oz. I've been waiting for the latest expose on the evening news, but I have yet to hear about it. All I hear is how our economy is recovering. This is just a scam to hide inflation.

A lot of people never notice thist is practice until it is pointed out to them.

Americans are overwhelmingly choosing to rent rather than buy when they first form their own households, government data show.

"Choosing..." Lol. Nothing to do with the inability to afford homes thanks to the Obama-Democrat-Academia student loan ponzi scheme, saddling young adults with $50-100k in debt to start their adult lives.

“We call it Obamasizing...”

Ha! I love it!

Yep, so many things have done that. What’s worse, is after the price goes up, sometimes I’ve seen the portion eventually go back to its original size too, but then it is touted as a “bonus” or “extra”, when all they’ve done is gone back to the original size. “Obamasizing”...LOL

Omg!!! Go sign up. Look at it this way....every fricken illegal here with an anchor baby or 4 gets them. Don’t you as a citizen deserve them more?
Hubby and I pay super high taxes so look at it as we’ll be paying for your food. I’d much rather pay for yours than a bunch of illegal anchor babies.
I’ll guarantee you that if we qualified for anything I’d sign up. After paying super high taxes all our lives we deserve it more than most of the people who are receiving it now. After all, we’ve been the payers for over 40 years.

$0

My mortgage balance is the same.

Property taxes are a bit high. We have had quite the incompetent and corrupt school system.

only gasoline has dropped in price over the last couple of years. Everything else is UP

Even that drop has been mitigated by the Republicans here in Iowa jacking up the gas tax by 45%.

I was at a GOP breakfast at which our Ag Commissioner presented. He said beef producers are hurting, that beef prices were low. This made no sense to me whatsoever, unless there’s huge middleman mark up.

Gotcha. I just went to the 99 cent store earlier today. The one in Hollywood is huge and has an incredible selection.

I’m not on a fixed income yet, but will be soon. I went out for a shrimp and scallop burrito this morning and loved every bit.

To counter that I have switched to many vegetarian entrees. I’m lucky since I love vegetablles.

I just love eggplant parm. Garbanzo bean curries. And a lot of vegetable pasta salads.

Gasoline has gone crazy in California. Somebody told me why .... the refineries, but i don’t understand.

It’s up over $5.00. And LA is a huge place to drive.

Please take food stamps! You definitely need and deserve them.

Some states do food supplements too.

But you have been paying for those programs all these years ... it’s time to ask for help.

God bless you.

Somewhere in the channel there is a big markup. Or the producer costs are pretty high and they don’t feel that their prices are high enough.

We are about $4.00 a Gallon in Orange County.

Remember, Moonbeam added a Carbon Tax on Gasoline.

Funny thing, Diesel is actually Cheaper than Gasoline. It used to be the opposite.

On a happy note, Eggs are only $5.00 a Dozen.

Look for a Sam’s. The last couple of months I have found 90% ground beef for $3.89, usually 4#-5#packages. Boneless, skinless huge chicken breasts (about 1#/ea) are $1.88/lb.

However, adding up all the ingredients for a recipe, I find I am spending about $2/serving/meal. Once in a wile, I can cut that back to $1.50. I cook for 2 people.

Sam’s, Aldi’s, managers specials, other sales are now facts of life.
