The author apparently is trying to compare the natural acts of an animal predator to feed itself & family with those of a man who kills animals purely to satisfy his pride. I thought humans were “better” than animals? Humane is the term, I believe.
Pride, you might remember, is one of the 7 deadly sins; not just a sin, but a DEADLY sin, as in, burn in Hell for all eternity. Pride is considered the worst of the 7 as it leads one to commit the other 6 deadly sins. Proverbs says it is an abomination.
Then there is the matter of killing an animal beloved by many people. That’s not much different from killing a pet. How is this lion killing different from the neighborhood animal hater who shoots people’s pets for ENTERTAINMENT?
I find it unseemly to travel to a grossly corrupt country to take trophies likely not legally available in other countries? If ISIS is offering infidel hunts, does that make it right? That a hunter may be fooled into a setup killing is no excuse. It is called hunting, not shooting for a reason.
If you are hunting managed, legal game to feed your family & share with others less fortunate, or protecting family/village from a dangerous animal, I have no problem with that.
But if you are too tired to lug that deer carcass back home, & hell, you already have a freezer full of meat anyway, you are killing for the sake of killing alone, & guilty of another deadly sin - gluttony & probably greed, too.
No, I don’t advocate more laws or prosecutions. They wont help the Zimbabwes of the world nor those who take advantage of a bad situation. No, their comeuppance comes at the end & it lasts forever.

Yes, destroyed along with millions of other hunters. What the media has done with this story is typical of the liberals, particularly the Clintons, all they have to do is say it and it will stick. Words are like bullets, once fired they cannot come back.

Amen! The guy should have known that in zimbabwe it is illegal to kill a lion and punishable by a 20,000 dollar fine and 10 years behind bars. I was just talking to an African woman who said the poacher will be stoned by the villagers if he comes back.
They're fine-tuning the process. I think Darren Wilson of Ferguson's "Gentle Giant" fame might have been the second one after George himself.

OK fine but every true hunter hates a poacher.
Other than killing a lot of sparrows and squirrels as a youth, I only hunted with the intend of harvesting the meat.
It was a good hunt? The lion was wearing a collar. Then they tried to hide the collar after. Such sports!

I haven’t been paying a lot of attention to the details - for me it was a lousy act because there was no real sport or need involved and the weapon pretty much insured extended suffering. I wasn’t aware of the collar. Thanks
