Trump: I Would Give Non-Criminal Illegal Aliens Legal Status
NewsMax ^ | 7/29/2015 | Greg Richter

Donald Trump says as president he would ultimately give some illegal immigrants legal status and isn't ruling out a pathway to citizenship, CNN reports.

That sounds different than what he said during his June 16 announcement speech when critics say he insulted Mexicans.

"When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best. … They're sending people that have lots of problems," he said then. "They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people."

Those who are not committing crimes could find legal status under a Trump administration, he told CNN's Dana Bash in comments aired Wednesday on CNN's "The Situation Room."

"It depends," Trump told Bash. "Look, it sound cold, and it sounds hard. … Our country is going to hell. We have to have a system where people are legally in our country."

While Mexico makes it hard for immigrants to enter, Trump said, "With us they walk across, … immediately they're members, call them members of our country. It's not right. "

One of Trump's GOP rivals, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, appeared immediately afterward, saying Trump's comments sound a lot like amnesty.

When a candidates policies and views fluctuate wildly from week to week and year to year it means he is playing the electorate for fools and cannot be trusted.

If they’re here ILLEGALLY then they’re CRIMINALS. the fact that they’re here instead of in Mexico is their crime. And people who commit crimes by definition are CRIMINALS. No more bullsh*t weasel words from any candidate.

Not hearing all that tough talk and bravado about “sending them back” anymore. Interesting.

If people were hoping that Trump would simply seal the border and then round up the 11 Million Illegals, put them in buses, and send them home, they are DELUDING THEMSELVES.

And other than Tom Tancredo or Pat Buchanan, both of whom are NOT RUNNING this year, who, exactly is talking about permanently kicking out the Illegals that have broken no other laws, other than immigration related?

NO! Donald you don’t ‘give’ any illegals citizenship. They have to earn it! Speak and understand English. Learn and obey our laws.

So Trump says that once illegal aliens self-deport to where they come from, they can get in line to become legal immigrants.

Where is the problem?

Everyone that I know of who has looked at the issue knows that immigration law is not working well for America and for people who are trying to immigrate legally.

So Trump says that we need to fix that.

Big deal.

Interesting that they don’t link to the CNN story...

Pretty much the “Drive-By Media” motif that Rush always complains the Mainstream Media does.

“Trump is saying we would keep the number we need and give them the legal right to WORK here provided they obey our laws and do what they’re supposed to do.”

That is the GOPe position.

I’m sure Trump’s hotels are staffed by illegals. He knows their value. Of course he wants to make them legal.

Trump is a great salesman, a great pitchman in the medicine show tradition.

I like what he is doing, but no one should have any illusions about him that he will differ all that much from GOPe if elected.

When a candidates policies and views fluctuate wildly from week to week and year to year it means he is playing the electorate for fools and cannot be trusted.

They aren't fluctuating wildly. He has said before that some illegals who are working and contributing might be allowed to stay. He's been consistent on that. Some people have just inferred from his general comments on illegals that he'd round them all up and deport them.

I don't think he's settled on a policy for this yet.

This presents an opportunity for Cruz to present a a bold immigration
policy, if he has the guts to do so.

“Not really. Trump said that as long as illegals go home to visit their family he’d “expedite” (that is put them to the front of the line) their being suddenly made legal once they return to the US.”

Deporting all them means that construction TOTALLY ENDS, until millenials can be taught which end of a hammer to hold. Same for agriculture.

Trump knows that, given his background...his problem is that he thinks most conservatives understand that too - they don’t. Not by a long shot.

That’s not what he said. This is what he said:

“And then the other ones — and I’m a very big believer in merit system, I have to tell you,” Trump said. “Because some of these people have been here, they’ve done a good job, you know, in some cases sadly they’ve been living under the shadows.”

“We have to do something,” he continued. “So whether it’s merit or whether it’s whatever, but I’m a believer in the merit system. If somebody’s been outstanding, we try and work something out.”

So, while the details may be unclear, that’s amnesty, not self-deportation.

I won’t vote for the clown in any event, but he’s an amnesty guy in some form.

’ DT- “The Republican Party will continue to lose presidential elections if it comes across as mean-spirited and unwelcoming toward people of color, Donald Trump tells Newsmax.

Whether intended or not, comments and policies of Mitt Romney and other Republican candidates during this election were seen by Hispanics and Asians as hostile to them, Trump says.

“Republicans didn’t have anything going for them with respect to Latinos and with respect to Asians,” the billionaire developer says.

“The Democrats didn’t have a policy for dealing with illegal immigrants, but what they did have going for them is they weren’t mean-spirited about it,” Trump says. “They didn’t know what the policy was, but what they were is they were kind.”

Romney’s solution of “self deportation” for illegal aliens made no sense and suggested that Republicans do not care about Hispanics in general, Trump says.

“He had a crazy policy of self deportation which was maniacal,” Trump says. “It sounded as bad as it was, and he lost all of the Latino vote,” Trump notes. “He lost the Asian vote. He lost everybody who is inspired to come into this country.”

The GOP has to develop a comprehensive policy “to take care of this incredible problem that we have with respect to immigration, with respect to people wanting to be wonderful productive citizens of this country,” Trump says.” ‘

______________

It’s my hope he defends our interests as a succesdful President even better than he defended his own interests as a successful businessman.

If you want a choirboy, hire Lindsey Graham. He can hit the high notes.

I guess you missed the fact that this article is based on an interview by CNN's Dana Bash which took place on July 14th.

This has already been discussed at FR a few times. Some folks are really behind on the news.

I know, they keep recycling this story from Wed when what he is saying is that first they have to go home then reapply the legal way.

The problem is that they are all criminals. So the only way to grant an illegal alien legal status is to grant them amnesty.

Every danged one of them is. So, CN and N twists a headline and BOOM - everyone who isn’t aware of what he really said - believes their twisted reports and down he goes. I’ve listened to all of his speeches, and he isn’t for amnesty - as some think of it. This problem is huge and is going to be a difficult one to solve - for anyone. It has gone on way too long.
