Over the last four decades, if youve seen a World War II aircraft actually in flight, chances are pretty good that the Collings Foundation in Stow, Massachusetts had something to do with it. Wednesday, the town Planning board voted 3-to-2 that the Foundations living history events, tours, exhibitions and veteran roundtable discussions are not educational, and thereby denied it a permit to expand. The Building Department also issued a cease and desist order against the Foundation on March 26, 2015 prohibiting take-offs and landings from the airstrip it has maintained and flown from for 37 years.
Mass is VERY red.
LOL! With the latest Supreme's ruling has already morphed into HUD rules any sub-division with more than 19 homes has to include such an oooouuutttreeeachhh to use Savage or Kuhner voice inflection. My guess is the neighbors would be furious if it was all Section 8, or they would demand 5+ acre parcels for 19 homes only...
Seeing no other reply, I don’t think Natick’s old Armory on
East Central St is the subject (It was a strange if not ominous looking building back in my early days. The redeeming factor was the great seasonal burger shack that was it’s neighbor).
As to the building in question/your (STRONGLY believe it’s a nondescript building, located on a minor road, in small neighborhood in Stow MA)
I may not be giving anything away, but I missed the transport of their TBM AVENGER to the airport (two lane country road)
I could be mistaken, but I was almost positive I saw an TBM there.
A TBM would have and no problem flying into that strip there anyway...
The original shop was on a secondary road
It’s a ‘few’ miles down the road from the local/sanctioned airport and required shutting down local road traffic to tow a great project to open field.
(unless removal of wings and as you might know, that ain’t easy, better to piss off a few nimby’s/ wimps once every five years for a few hours... besides, as I recall, it was done during church hours (when the nimby’s are asleep))
As I recall, you’re from the area, aren’t you?
Testing me? On the Fourth of July, what town won’t allow the Minutemen to pass with loaded rifles (black powder).
During the procession, the Minutemen stop, “unload” and then proceed across the town border.
Once through, they reload and proceed.
[some of the same re-enactors give their time at every Foxboro Patriots game]
I am a big Pats Fan, and I enjoy seeing them there, especially this one:
I do want to qualify my posts: It is conjecture based on my familiarity with small town liberal politics in Massachusetts. I don’t personally know any of these people on the Stow planning board, so I paint with a broad brush.
But I call this as I see it.
I thought you were from previous, I too am a Pat fan...
As the re-enactors approach the town line, few know what is about to occur.
As they cross into the following township, most also don’t know what is occurring.
It is both a recognition of the beginning of individual freedom in this country and the loss of it 200 years later.
