Cecil the lion's cubs are being protected by his BROTHER
The Daily Mail ^ | 31 July 2015 | SIMON TOMLINSON and TOM WYKE

The cubs fathered by Cecil the lion are being protected by his brother amid fears they will be killed by a male rival, researchers said today.

The much-loved lion was killed by American dentist Walter Palmer earlier this month, sparking outrage around the world.

After his death, there were fears his cubs would be killed by the next lion in the hierarchy so he could father his own offspring with the females in the pride.

But a team at Oxford University's Wildlife Conservation Unit, which had been studying Cecil before he was shot dead, said the lion's brother had stepped in to safeguard the young.

more correctly...... Cecil’s alleged cubs are being protected by his brother

Lion cubs are like the village...... they don’t know if their parent is their father or their uncle

Death is death...no matter what you call it. Can’t we all just “get along”?

Males of many species are kicked out of the herd/pride and surprisingly it’s the females that do it. A female whitetail deer will run off her male offspring as soon as it’s capable of taking care of it’s self.

[ No animal deserves professional courtesy that wouldn’t give professional courtesy itself.

What a bunch of nonsense you are spewing. ]

Did you miss the part that i said that if an predator went after me that i would drop it before it got to me?

I just think that we shouldn’t go out of our way to kill things like Lions because we feel like it would look nice on our wall in the den. We should have a damned good reason for doing so. But this is a personal OPINION, you know how I drive a Chevy and you may drive a Ford and there is no law telling you that you should buy a Chevy.

The whole “professional courtesy” thing I mentioned means that as the smarter/smartest of the top predators that god created we should respect and revere the other top predators that have been placed on this planet by our creator.

It doesn’t mean we shouldn’t shoot a man eating lion who is killing villagers or a tiger that is stalking villagers in India, or a bear that is killing campers in the Rockies because some idiot hippie has been feeding the bears from their back porch.

If the animal is killing and hurting humans then by all means put them down swiftly and quickly.

But let’s try not go out of our way to kill a top predator unless we are doing so in accordance with being a “good steward” of the land. If a trophy hunt is funding a preserve and will see that more cute lion cubs get born next year then heck that Lion head on your wall looks pretty good to me, but honestly, luring one off a reserve to kill it with a slow acting bow and arrow for supposed “sport”, that is just jackassery plain and simple. Heck, i would have had more respect for the dentist had he dropped the thing with a real gun and Cecil dropped where he was shot. But intentionally using a weapon where even the best shot is by no means a guaranteed quick kill, that is just being cruel in my OPINION.

You are very much is welcome! :) =^..^=

Just adopted two black cats, a boy and a girl from family relations that could no longer take care of them because of health issues. Both born in FL. So I am looking at music from the new group, “Florida Georgia Line” to remind them of home. Maybe will hear a meow or two in Southern American style as with their purrs. :) =^..^= :) =^..^=

[ If Cecil was killed by another lion or another animal, this story would be literally non-existent...

But because he was killed by a “evil” human being who paid to hunt big game, it’s beyond the pale...

Even our house of idiots: feckless, craven, gutless, spineless Congress is in on the action...

I mean there is nothing else that’s important going on to address...!!! ]

The worst that the dentist did was what is called “baiting an animal”, while it may or may not be a crime in Africa, here it will get a fine if you do to hunt deer here in the states.

I agree with you that it sure as hell shouldn’t not be a national “crisis” because some city dwellers on the internet blew a tube over it. It is easier for Washington to be distracted by this than to deal with the slaughter of actual humans here in the many clinic across our country.

Personally i would never go on a big game hunt myself, but I don’t think it should be illegal either.

I am rather annoyed that the media has decided to distract itself with this rather than doing their actual jobs of reporting news that actually affects the people who read it.

[ Animals don’t “murder.” They kill to feed themselves and their young. Trying to humanize them is foolish.

Have you ever seen the size of a wildebeest herd? It’s also silly to think cats could hunt them out of existence. ]

Lions and other Predators also hunt down the easy targets first (sick, old and deformed young) which help ensure that only the healthy wildebeests are the only ones around to eat the precious remaining grass during the dry season.

Top predators are God’s self correcting mechanism to keep the herbivore animal populations in proper check.

[ Sort of reminiscent of one hand of OUR Government can’t find a few million illegals in this country but can track a dead calfs parentage back to a Rogue Cow in Canada. ]

Yeah, they are not worried about illegal alien trespassing FELONS killing other humans, but hey a guy in Wyoming wants to build a pond to attract cute cuddly wildlife is a villain, a villain i tell you because he dared to improve his own personal property and help out nature by giving duck and geese a place to rest....

The fall of a country starts with having their priorities all out of whack.

[ Interesting. I had always assumed that male lions would killed baby lions like feral tom cats will. I saw this happen in my own back yard when I was a child . ]

Depends on the cat, we had a tom cat that was a “barn cat” that acted as a guardian to all our barn kitties (no matter who was the father) . He was giant muscular cat that was one of the kindest orange tabby cats you could ever imagine.

[ That’s hysterical. I posted that picture over on a musician’s forum frequented by snot nosed liberal tree huggers who are calling for death to the dentist. I do hate liberals so. Such hypocrites. But that picture is hilarious. Thanks. ]

Lie-berals have to devalue human life in order to elevate animal life you see. Much like their economical polices bring equality by making everyone poor.

Animals can be quite amazing in their nobility; but they aren’t cute little creatures wearing tutus & ballet slippers like Disney movies like to depict them.

100 children in Zimbabwe will die today from starvation. Who care about a dead animal? Get over it!

I care. Get over it. It is possible to care about both. I just heard that Jericho was killed today illegally by another hunter. I hope the dentist is extradited and gets 15 years in a very tough prison. The same for the one that killed Jericho. Trophy hunting is juvenile and a compensation for something else.

"Death is death...no matter what you call it."

But the reasons for it make all the difference.

Was you an accomplice to murder the last time you ate a hamburger?

" Can’t we all just “get along”?"

Sure. Life is a Disney movie and those lions can stop by Panera Bread and pick up some salads.

You must be very young....teen years, maybe.
