Trump towers in fresh poll (almost 30%)

Donald Trump has something new to crow about.

The latest numbers from the Reuters/Ipsos five-day tracking poll has boastful billionaire as the presidential choice of almost 30 percent of Republicans surveyed—a stratospheric mark given the fragmented presidential field.

He’s hitting a new high with the first Republican debate just days away: Aug. 6, in Cleveland, Ohio, where coverage of Trump before, during, and after the contest is likely grow even more feverish given the new numbers.

Trump’s current surge–he’s been gaining strength meteorically all week, according to the poll–has knocked his closest rival, Jeb Bush, back behind him by almost 20 points. Bush sits at 11 percent, with the rest of contenders gasping for air at less than 8 percent.

At a week ago this time, the Reuters/Ipsos poll had Trump at just 15 percent.

Far as I am concerned, I cannot find anything that Cruz did wrong. I hope and pray more people are able to see that.

Giuliani was another tough, battle hardened NYer, but he did not get very far running for president.

And at least Giuliani had held elected office and had a record we could measure.

Trump is a loose cannon and completely unpredictable.

The only predictable thing about Trump is his motor mouth and penchant for publicity. A formula for disaster IMHO.

Yes, perhaps her campaign would have been better if she turned the tables. Of course, Newt did and it helped him for a long time, didn’t it? He was good!

[...they are TRYING to keep Cruz out but Trump in....why is that?]

They probably CAN’T ignore him because of the attention he’s getting from grass roots folks or are just holding onto to their lyin’ motto of ‘fair and balanced’ BS.

A question I’d like to ask Fox is why haven’t they had Trump on their segment, Center Seat.

This surge is coincident with his announcement that he would deport all illegals and only let the “good ones” return.

Agreed... Trump + Cruz voters is a zero sum game. Anyone who formerly liked Cruz still does, but Trump is Cruz on steroids. Cruz voters are going to Trump 1:1. No slippage.

To all the poor souls who can't abide Trump because he is not a "pure conservative" ---LOL: You can be a platonic ideal conservative with 100 % ratings and not get sh!t done. We are at WAR with the MSM, the Rats, and the Atheists and Anarchists. We need a fighter and a winner, and yesterday!

People sniffing at Trump are exactly like those who sniffed at US Grant because he drank. As Lincoln said, "I like Grant... he fights!"

It tells me that they FEAR one candidate only...Cruz.

They think Trump will bring viewers and entertainment.

But for six or more weeks, Trump has had more media coverage than probably any primary candidate ever. Folks have been firing at him from all directions and all it’s done is increase his support.

Opponents can only hope he will make a mistake because there is little reason to think any of them can compete with him.

Cruz is not being punished. He’s Trump’s MiniMe and he will surface again after Trump gets the nomination. He will be a perfect Trump clone as VP. Plus he can talk sense to Trump and the Legislative Branch and all of its monkeys.

For what it’s worth department.

http://polling.reuters.com/#!

This Reuters / Ipsos poll began in January 2012 and since then continuously polled between
2,000 and 3,000 people a week. Over that period, we have asked hundreds of questions ranging
from presidential politics to the Oscars, from the Syrian civil war to the perception of
social networks, such as Facebook and Twitter.

Unlike almost all mainstream polls, the data is entirely collected via online surveys.
Online surveys allow us to collect far more data and to be more flexible and fast-moving
than phone research, and online is also where the future of polling lies.

This methodology may be different from the ‘traditional’ (telephone) approach used by
others, but it is highly accurate: It was the most accurate national poll of US residents
published immediately before the November 2012 general election.

Our data is primarily drawn from online surveys using sampling methods developed in
consultation with several outside experts. These involve recruiting respondents from the
entire population of US-based Internet users in addition to hundreds of thousands of individuals
pre-screened by Ipsos. The responses are then weighted based on demographic information.

I cannot find anything that Cruz did wrong. I hope and pray more people are able to see that.

Just look at what Cruz is doing right. Cruz is not attacking Trump. Cruz is attacking the commies from other directions at the same time Trump is attacking them in his campaign. Cruz just publicly attacked McConnell for being a liar (as well, unsaid, of being a commie puke traitor to the country and the people). Cruz is attacking Planned Parenthood, and by extension, all the NAZI Democrats and the few RINOs who have been stupid enough to speak out in defense of PP (i.e. Kirk, Collins).

The commies of both parties have taken huge punches from several different directions over the past couple of weeks, and more punches are coming.

Cruz's position in the polls is not important right now.

What is important is that Jeb Bush is getting trounced, and all the other paid-for vanity candidates cannot stay viable.

Yeah he’s been peaking early all month. I think he’s going to peak early all the way to the Presidency.

I doubt the Reuters/Ipsos 5 day rolling poll has an affect on the debate about 100% certain.

"So, I guess Trump isn’t whiny, self-serving or calculated?"

He is to some people, no doubt. But when The Statesman does a Trump impersonation, it comes across poorly and he drops in the polls. So there's that.

You got it but they’ll keep on pushing him down until they can’t anymore without showing their abject bias against Conservatives.

Well, then, I guess Cruz is that way “to some people” as well.

And, you think Cruz is really dropping in the polls? Hey, I have a house for you in the middle of the ocean if you want it.

The fact you believe these things tell me EXACTLY why someone like you is supporting Trump. Wow.
