First of all my hovel at 70 degrees is not even close to using the mayor’s mansion’s 78 degree electrical usage. Secondly, liberals want to ban just about every form of electrical production so peak blackouts may be a positive thing. Lastly, since I would never consider pulling the lever on this idiot (except of course, at a hanging platform) why would I listen to anything he says?

Air condition systems, once set at a certain temperature will consume as much energy as possible to maintain that temperature. Because thermal energy always flows from the warmer object to the cooler one that rate of flow affects how much is necessary to maintain the temperature. For a well insulated building, I am not sure that setting the thermostat higher will cause that much of a savings. Because of better insulation, the energy needed vs temperature setting will have a lower slope than a poorly insulated building.

It is in the best interests of all for all to keep their A/Cs at a higher temperature.
It is in the best interest of each individual to keep his A/C at whatever temperature he thinks best for himself.
As most people will take the individual approach rather than the collective approach, those who do heed the call to maintain higher temps will still suffer from any blackouts even though they complied.
Keep yall's A/Cs at whatever setting makes you the most comfortable because yall are going to suffer just the same in a blackout either way.

I have mine set at 75, yet the house will not get cooler than 78.
Is it the smart meter stuff starting up already, or do I need to call a repairman?
To: SeekAndFind
78 is perfectly comfortable for me. Mrs. JimRed insists that it’s too warm and 74 is good.

These same leftwing charlatans saying our electric grid can't supply the electricity for normal air-conditioner use, are
trying to put us in electric cars. What happens if/when they are successful? Will they be then at the same times try to stop us from recharging electric cars?

Our daughter, and her daughter from here in Calif., are visiting NYC (my birth place) for 6 days to celebrate granddaughter’s 16th b-day.
They arrived on Thurs. and have already done a ton of sightseeing and a Broadway musical.
Not a word about the heat in their texts. Guess because of the awful heat here in Ventura County.

I haven’t had the a/c on at all this summer. Ceiling fans, working from home in shirts and t-shirt and hobbying in the basement are enough. But this is Colorado.

Does ANYONE take ANYTHING that this imbecile says seriously? He has plenty of natural air conditioning, with all that space between his ears.
