Donald Trump: I promise to be nice at the GOP debate
Politico ^ | July 30, 2015 | ADAM B. LERNER

Donald Trump has made a name for himself on the campaign trail for sharp invective and brash hyperbole.

But when he takes the debate stage next week, he has promised to play nice with his fellow Republican 2016 presidential candidates.

“I look forward to the debate on Thursday night & it is certainly my intention to be very nice & highly respectful of the other candidates,” the billionaire real estate mogul tweeted Thursday.

In the meantime, the final few spots are still up for grabs and other candidates are scrambling to make headlines to gain enough ground to take the stage.

All he is saying is he won’t be the first to attack. I am certain he will counter-attack. One of the lower tier candidates desperate for attention will start the bloodbath, IMO. Would be Santorum, but it doesn’t look like he’ll be on stage. My bet is on Rubio.

It’s his intention. Which means, unless you are not nice to me...

I hope he’s not nice about Hillary and starts hitting her with more than just, “she’s the worst Secretary of State we’ve ever had”

If the moderators keep asking stupid questions he should flip... them off, and then walk... off stage

One of the moderators will be Meghan Kelly, the one who "broke" the story of his supposed "violation" of his wife during their divorce 30 years ago. I will look closely to see how he interacts with her. Should be priceless.

Because he is so plain-spoken and with an obnoxious New York City accent, people often think he is not smart. But he is razor sharp.

I predict Perry, if he makes it to the first team debate, will be the attack
dog on Trump.

However, it’s looking like Perry will end up in the Kiddie-Forum.

You definitely are not alone, brother.

And it ain’t no polite “golf clap” either.

Loud, boisterous, raucous, AMERICAN applause from me.

RE Rubio:

I think you are correct there. But it might be Jeb too; or a tag team effort.

I agree with all of that and have never said anything different. In fact, I’ve always said WHY is more important than WHAT or WHO.

So when he answers some of those “why” questions with liberal templates...I’ll leave his supporters to ponder the warnings.

Trump can aim at the enemy AND compare his point to how the GOPe has mimicked the Dims, at the same time. Two birds, one stone.

EXACTLY.....in this case, the GOP e, especially Jeb, would be part of the other team. But Cruz / Trump/ Carly / Paul / Perry etc don't need to attack each other one bit.

Nice or otherwise he doesn’t have much time to do either. What are
the participants getting time wise, maybe 10 minutes or so.

He was never skipping the Fox debate. He was skipping one in, I believe, New Hampshire, where one of the organizers was trashing him. I guess he is still not participating in that one.

Study Newt’s taking down moderators asking irrelevant questions in 2012 debates...it was phenomenal!

I check his FB page daily, so I saw the post yesterday, and I took the message as a warning shot across the bow.

Definitely sounds like forewarning :-)

If they (mods/opponents) aren’t playing respectfully, I imagine he’ll pull no punches.

I don’t do FB, so I’m missing out. I do check his Twitter feed, though.

But the Tweet said Thursday (Aug 3) which I thought was the “candidate forum” in NH. Debate season still doesn’t officially kick off until 8/6 in Cleveland AFAIK.

.

The 2016 GOP Candidate Field better get ready for a can of Donald Trump "Whoop Ass" ...

Why ?

The "conventional" MSM wisdom is that Trump entered the race on a whim ... and will simply continue his bombastic style at the first Fox News GOP Presidential Debate next Thursday.

That's a recipie for disaster for the other GOP Candidates.

Consider this.

Trump's new book will be released next Thursday (August 6, 2015) .... which means that Trump made the "presidential run decision" OVER A YEAR AGO ... to get a book written, edited and published in 365 days.

Indeed, Trump probably had to start the book project at least 18 months ago.

Fast forward to the "politically predictable" first GOP Presidential Debates on Fox News.

Trump has had between 12 and 18 months to secretly prepare for this game-chaning debate.

His opponents are all looking for "silver bullet" to nail Trump in the debate, to salvge their own struggling campaigns.

So how does Donald Trump prepare ?

Get 12 months of the BEST POSSIBLE briefings on foreign policy, military readiness, economic status, Common Core, Planned Parenthood, illegal immigration crime stats, ISIL, Israel, Export-Import bank, TPA-TTP ... the works ...

and if-when a John Kasich / Mike Huckabee type tries to nail Trump on a "technical question" ... Trump blasts them with both barrels with facts and statistics of his own ...

just like a "legitimate" U.S. Presidential Candidate is expected to.

Moreover, Trump has (probably) already secretly created a special campaign website (to be announced at the debate) with an easy simple-to-remember name like "AmericanVictory'org" (as an example).

Fifty million (50,000,000) GOP voter internet visits later ... Trump will have spelled-out (with pictures and quick two minute videos) his "detailed" approach to a dozen different national issues.

Trumps' GOP debate opponents have neither the brains, vision or MONEY to do all that ... except perhaps Ted Cruz.

Finally ... "Yeb Bush" is taken down by Trump with the simple question:

How can you call "immigration an act of love" when 7,567 Americans have been vrutally assaulted, raped, and murdered by illegal immigrants over the last XX years ?

Godspeed Ted Cruz and Donald Trump !

Megyn Kelly & Chris Wallace are honing up on gotcha questions for Donald. Must learn from how Newt dealt in 2012 debates with gotcha questions. It was masterful!
