Just a day after allegations reemerged that Donald Trump raped his ex-wife, Ivana Trump, the bombastic billionaire’s former spouse played down the controversy, saying that the two are still “the best of friends.”

“Donald and I are the best of friends and together have raised three children that we love and are very proud of. I have nothing but fondness for Donald and wish him the best of luck on his campaign,” she said.
“Incidentally, I think he would make an incredible president,” Ivana Trump, who divorced her husband in 1992, added.

Her original accusation was during their divorce proceedings. People lie routinely during those. He said/She said.
Now that the divorce settlement is long since finalized, there is no more profit potential in such an allegation. But Donald still has lots of money she might sweet talk out of him, as mother of their children. If by some wild chance, she had a streak of gold digger in her.
They were married for 14 years and had three kids, so she may have softened up now that the heat of the divorce/custody battle is long over (1992). They must have some good memories together. He seems to have been good to them since the diviorce.
So it wasn’t “rape-rape” after he pulled out chunks of her hair in retaliation for her plastic surgeon annoying him.
I wonder if Megan Kelly is going to bring this up on her show tonight. She could not wait to quote the Daily Beast last night on her show.

Megan Kelley messed up big time. She should have waited. She lost a lot of my respect.
I think what you say is reasonable but the accusations came from Ivana herself didn’t it? So was she lying then or lying now? I tend to believe she lied then to squeeze more money out of him but who knows. This non-story is a good news in a way because I think it shows how desperate they are to go after trump.

Does it matter? Obvious not to them for even if said they’ve obviously moved far beyond that.

Yes, and the only way to stop them from getting away from it is to point it out with extreme volume. Trump is doing that. He’s trading blows with them, and they can’t handle getting hit. The lack of accuracy and fairness is their glass jaw, but everyone fights the left defensively - when what you need to do is fight very aggressively offensively, or at least with incessant and aggressive counterattacks.
If that is the case, she is gonna be p!ssed.
If Obama’s homosexual affairs were off-limits during the 2008 primary then Trump’s divorce proceedings should be off-limits.
Kelly is the one who’ll ask each and every candidate what they think about queer “marriage”. She’ll say it’s the law of the land. She’ll try to best to embarrass any of them that does not say they agree “marriage equality” as she’ll put it.
When I gave the incident more thought, it dawned on me that during their programs, most TV pundits are fed continual instructions from their producers through hidden ear pieces, cue cards....or scrolling pads of some kind on the desks.
It's possible, indeed probably probable, that MK received hidden orders from her producer to veer from her ongoing program to read the "breaking news" hit-piece on Trump.
I don't know if Kelly has yet achieved the stature and clout of, say, O'Reilly, to override her superior's instructions and refuse to read some news she was hastily fed, so I agree with your keen observation that we have to cut her some slack here, at least temporarily.
Her ongoing reportage on Trump will tell the tale...and will be telling one way or another.
