In the last few weeks, Americans (and the media) have watched in awe as a New York real estate magnate prone to bellicose behavior and hyperbole has become the GOP's leading candidate for the White House.
But how did this come to be? A lot of it has to do with education.
Trump's support is strongest with Republicans in the Midwest, conservatives across the country who do not have a college degree and (perhaps not surprisingly) those who report the most negative views of immigration and Mexican immigrants in particular, according to a Washington Post-ABC News poll released last week.
To be clear, the poll found that 60 percent of all Americans support the idea of offering undocumented immigrants currently in the United States some form of legal status, and 57 percent told pollsters they believe that immigrants strengthen the country. But there are plenty of people who see things differently. And those people appear to be concentrated among whites, Republicans and those with lower levels of education.

I suppose the Obama surge was about really smart well informed people.
Another turn of phrase goes
the pig that squeals is the one you hit
The old axiom “Educated beyond the capacity to think.”comes to mind.
Boy, the post must think it has some balls. The dims require an IQ of about 16 or less to vote dim, and that includes all of their college grads and phd professors.
“Make College FREE for Everyone!” pitch coming in 3....2.....1.....
My brother is always offended when I told him for years
“Some of the dumbest people I ever have met are college graduates.”
I now have my masters and he has only a bachelor’s.
Funny, around the time I got it, he stopped being offensive about education.
From what I’ve seen of the highly educated I feel blessed that mine was limited.
Liberals always make this claim on all of their favorite agenda items. Global Warming, Same Sex Marriage, Abortion, etc. “Studies show that opponents of blab blab blab are less educated then blab blab blab”. Calling conservatives stupid is standard Marxist operating procedure.
The author sounds like Juan MeCain.
I have advanced degrees and over 17 years of college level education at America's top colleges and universities, am fluent in 3 languages, have travelled all over the world and lived for a long time in Europe (where I saturated myself with museums, operas, literature, formal academic studies, et al.), am a member of Mensa, and scored higher than 180 on the Stanford-Binet I.Q. test.
My wife's as well educated as I am--and she's Phi Beta Kappa.
My children--ALL conservative, I'm proud to say--are similarly well educated and have similar credentials.
I have found Freepers to be similarly intelligent.
Of far greater importance is wisdom. Something that the author of this article seems to lack. I also betcha he's not as well educated than I am--or than the average Trump supporter is.
And I say: Trump is exactly what the United States needs!

So only stupid people want borders language and culture.
Well alrighty then.
It’s the morons of the Left who lack the wit to comprehend the disaster the U.S.A. is headed for because of their foolishness, the intelligence to see through their own hubris and denial, and the education to understand that Americans are repeating the tragedies of history and literature because of them.
The perfect candidate to capture the imagination of the “low-information voter”.
With an attention span somewhat shorter than that of a goldfish or gnat, the LIV’s are attracted to The Donald like night-flying insects are attracted to a brightly-lit window. They shall never reach the source of the light, of course, or like flying into a bug zapper, they make a noticeable “PHZZZZT!” if they do get too close. But that does not prevent multitudes and hordes of them continuing to crowd closer.
Politics is mostly a game of numbers, and if the many may be persuaded to vote for the “right” person, even if for all the wrong reasons, it is still considered a “win”. The very sagacious among us may use all kinds of philosophical reasons, but the multitude still go for the sprinkles on the ice cream cone.
And whether real or merely illusion, The Donald appears to have a LOT of sprinkles in his words and actions.
The Republican Establishment has been offered a HUGE opportunity, whether or not they chose to take advantage of it makes all the difference. Embrace The Donald, and ride the tide as it sweeps to the horizon, or they dismiss him at their own great peril, left lying in the mud flats and stranded, perhaps permanently.
Like it or not, you have to get a certain percentage of the Low Info Vote to win a national election.
A guy like Romney had absolutely no appeal to the Low Info Voter.
LIVs like a tough guy, regardless of where they are on the issues.
Reagan actually got a lot of LIV votes, because they liked the man, regardless of his politics.
This kind of talk will lead to a very real war at some point.
Hey, well take them. Were not proud. They must be learning.
The compost “writer” is obviously an affirmative-action hire. She is a “low-information-journalist”. The saving grace is that she is useful to ridicule.
