Cruz: 'McConnell led effort to keep Planned Parenthood funding'

WASHINGTON – Just days after publicly calling the majority leader a liar on the Senate floor, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, has upped the stakes in his war on GOP brass by accusing Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., of spearheading the effort to keep taxpayer funds going to Planned Parenthood.

In a statement that mentioned “gruesome videos of senior officials of Planned Parenthood discussing the selling of body parts of unborn children,” Cruz blasted McConnell for blocking an amendment by Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, to defund the abortion provider.

“These videos are horrifying, and yet it saddens me greatly that the Republican leader led the effort to continue the taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood,” charged Cruz.

On Friday, when he accused McConnell of lying to his face about making a secret deal with Democrats, Cruz had said that was because McConnell had no interest in championing a conservative agenda.

Cruz also said McConnell has led the Senate just as Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., would have, because they both do the bidding of big business and donors rather than serve the will of the people.

“The McConnell-Reid leadership team has no interest in cutting off one penny of funds to Planned Parenthood, which is why leader Mitch McConnell just blocked a vote on defunding Planned Parenthood,” observed Cruz on Monday.

He added, “To the millions of Americans who rallied in November believing if only we got a Republican majority in the Senate something would be different, this was a clarifying and a sad moment.”

Cruz was relentless, continuing, “[T]o see the so-called Republican leadership whip against allowing a vote to defund Planned Parenthood — it has the virtue of clarity. It makes clear that the McConnell-Reid leadership team is united in favor of big government spending and debt and power.”

Chapter 5, Nineteen-Eightyfour, George Orwell

He looked round the canteen again. Nearly everyone was ugly, and would still have been ugly even if dressed otherwise than in the uniform blue overalls. On the far side of the room, sitting at a table alone, a small, curiously beetle-like man was drinking a cup of coffee, his little eyes darting suspicious glances from side to side. How easy it was, thought Winston, if you did not look about you, to believe that the physical type set up by the Party as an ideal — tall muscular youths and deep-bosomed maidens, blond-haired, vital, sunburnt, carefree — existed and even predominated. Actually, so far as he could judge, the majority of people in Airstrip One were small, dark, and ill-favoured. It was curious how that beetle-like type proliferated in the Ministries: little dumpy men, growing stout very early in life, with short legs, swift scuttling movements, and fat inscrutable faces with very small eyes. It was the type that seemed to flourish best under the dominion of the Party.

Just proves that the GOP-E is the same as the left..both love baby murder.

Yep. McConnell is protecting “Republicans” who don’t want to vote to repeal PP funding.

The question that needs to be asked is:

WHY ARE WE FUNDING, OR ALLOWING, MASS MURDER IN THE FIRST PLACE?

PS They look ready to be stuffed into caskets, don’t they?

Our founding fathers were all young and vital men, in their 30s and 40s, with lively minds, courageous, willing to risk everything on a roll of dice with their fellow patriots.

They were certainly not superannuated, cautious, money-grubbing, backstabbing fossils like these two dessicated turds/

“Someone on another thread said Ted has ended his Senate career by his actions.”

Odd, I may have ended all of the GOP Senate careers by staying home at election time. I am certain others will join me.

The GOPe does not want social issues or immigration to play any part in the campaign. They view them as losers. The GOPe welcomed Roe vs Wade, the SCOTUS decision on gay marriage, and Obama’s amnesties. Once the courts make them “settled” issues, the GOPe can say they are the law of the land and they are committed to following the law.

Cruz had said that was because McConnell had no interest in championing a conservative agenda.

Sometimes he just states the obvious

I apologize to everyone on Free Republic, I have voted for Mitch McConnell in every election he has ever been in.

I don’t think he was always what he is today but today he is worse than a Democrat, he is a lying Republican.

He will, I assure you, never get another vote from me.

I’m Sorry, truly.

That's a public service.

Our founding fathers were all young and vital men...

So, one big difference... the founders were voted in their positions by their state constituent assemblies of one sort or another, while todays turds were voted in by a widely uninformed Constitutionally-illiterate gibsmedat electorate.
