Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus says every GOP White House hopeful 'should pledge not to run as a third-party candidate' He was responding to threats from front-runner Donald Trump to undercut the party if Priebus and others don't show him more respect 'I think everyone understands that if Hillary Clinton's going to get beat, she's going to get beat by a Republican,' Priebus said Trump walked back the notion of a break with the party after some conciliatory gestures from the RNC The chairman of the Republican National Committee said Monday that every GOP candidate for president 'should pledge not to run as a third-party candidate,' a not-so-subtle reference to Donald Trump's threat ot breaking off and doing things his own way – as an independent.
Trump, the undisputed front-runner, said last week that he wouldn't rule out running as a third-party candidate and freezing the GOP out of his meteoric rise if the party didn't start treating him better.
'Certainly, I think our candidates should pledge not to run as a third-party candidate,' RNC bigwig Reince Priebus said Monday on NBC's 'TODAY' show. But he quickly added that 'I don't see that happening' and 'I don’t fear that.'
'I think everyone understands that if Hillary Clinton’s going to get beat, she's going to get beat by a Republican,' Priebus said. 'And most people that run for president run to win, and if our candidates want to win, then they'll have to run as a Republican.'

You are very confusing Mr. Priebus, you want what you want, but you don't know what you want, so you tell all of the others to make a pledge and one that can be broken to adhere to your confusion? Really?

Let’s see.. The GOPe has wanted to bar a candidate from the debates, supposedly because they ‘might’ go third party. Now the GOPe wants a pledge that if they can fix Iowa and NH, that no candidate might just flip the bird and go third party.
How about this, GOPe, how about you worry about actually campaigning for our votes, and we’ll vote for whomever we dang well please, and we will encourage any and all candidates to run for office.
Because as much as they’re whining, you know exactly what’s happening... A) Jebbers isn’t doing quite as well as they’d like, B) Trump is doing much better than they’d like, C) They figure they can out caucus Trump in Iowa and get enough liberals in NH to pump Jebbers into first, D) They’re prepping for the old standby that anyone who isn’t ‘viable’ after those two ballots should ‘step aside and bring party unity’ right behind Jebbers.
Screw the pledge. Stop blaming the voters for your problems. Campaign for votes and stop playing games.
How is this plan going to affect the disFranchised Americans? It doesn’t.
Instead of addressing the issues of millions of conservatives, the GOP

does trump have any volunteers on the ground? Any offices open? Is he using election tracking software that tracks door knocking and the responses? Yard sign tracking?
I think Hillary’s campaign will come off its’ tracks and it’ll be some other leftist nut that will run. Whoever that is, if a pubbie runs third party, that leftist nut will take over the office where Bambi left off.
Take a pledge? This request coming from the party that embraces liars like McConnell. The republican elite whose word means nothing. Who lie as a matter of routine. The gop-e break their promises almost before their lips quit moving. (Read my lips...). Priebus is an idiot.
Things are just not right after seeing how they handled Cruz yesterday, I think that was a warning shot to all R Senators, DO NOT step out of line or things may/will happen to you, your family or your pet. There are people who "take care of things".
GOPee needs to pledge to only support Constitutionally oriented canidate.
It both ironic and hypocritical that Reince wants pledges when the GOP has done anything but honor its pre-election “pledges” to its voters.
You would think they would be happy to have a candidate people are excited about, but Nooooooooooo!! Can’t have that. Must have Hillary vs. Stooge or the jig is up!
