Now that Vermont has a mandate to get 75 percent of its electricity from renewable energy sources by 2032, residents will have to ditch automobiles and embrace a whole new way of life, the state’s top renewable energy CEO says.

If its someone talking about how great the eighteenth century was, it has to be a progressive.

We already get nearly that amount from renewables, it’s called Hydroelectric and it has powered most of this state since Rural Electrification.

>>The Act is about electricity generation. Why the emphasis on cars?<<

The guy behind it makes his money producing green energy. Less cars implies more public transit implies more green energy consumed.

Alternatively, he’s a raging loon. (That would be my take, incidentally.)

He shouldn’t ever be allowed to ascend to a position of power, but then we already have Obama, so that doesn’t work...

I can’t find recent info but Vermont was one of seven states to mandate zero pollution car quotas.

Limit electric power output and you limit the number of electric cars thus limit the total number of cars.

If more petty fascists like Mr. Blittersdope get in power, I can see a shooting war coming. Nobody who values freedom will willingly march into little cages for tyrants like Blittersdope. When the shooting starts he better hope he has a good plan to get out of the country. Because he’ll be one of the first people put up against the wall.

Vermont is far enough north that solar is a stupid idea, unless they can make it two or three times more efficient

He needs to set the example.

That really tells you what they want to eliminate, doesn’t it? We don’t get to have cars & we don’t get to fly anywhere. Much easier to control us in our little 300 sq ft apartments. Assuming we even get to have those.

What if petroleum abiogenesis could be demonstrated... that would make oil sustainable now, wouldn’t it?

But it wouldn't make it "green"...

I live in NH. On the 3rd of the month you can’t get into the parking lot of a border town here because the Vermonter’s have taken all of the parking spaces.

Ok, that’s kind of far. I’ll allow a pogo stick for you (with a snow shoe on it if it’s in the winter time). Better get out of the liberal northeast while they still sell gas and before they dig up all the roads! Beautiful state but tooooo cold for me. I have friends up there and they get snowed in every winter.

Darn, you are probably right. Always thought they made the nuclear reactors warm water to stop the global cooling in the late 70s, realized they over did the warming, started whining about warming, cooled the planet with chem trails, and are just now realizing they over did the cooling, will start whining about cooling again eventually. Your approach fits everything’s better. They will just start killing humans again like they did the first half of the previous century. One of these days they will figure out atmosphere temps represent energy leaving the biosphere, while ocean temps represent energy entering the biosphere. But by the time they figure that out most of us will be dead anyway.
