A merit system makes sense. As each illegal identifies themselves we deport them on the merit of being an illegal.

I think we make a deal with the countries who are the primary sources of illegals.

They have to take the criminals back, and the welfare leaches. OTOH, the ones who want to work and pay taxes can stay, BUT the countries they came from have to take one of our welfare leaches for each illegal we take.

Oh, I would sweeten the pot a bit -- current welfare recipients can keep their welfare checks as long as they live. But, their children are on their own.

In one generation we could solve the welfare problem and the immigration problem...

That's too easy. They have to take one liberal college professor, lawyer, or politician for each illegal we take.

With Obama, McConnell, and Boehner with 18 more months, all this may be a moot point. Obama aims to completely cripple the United States for all time. It is worse than anyone thinks.

And he will screw everything up because he will go third party if he’s rejected. He has as much narcissism as obama.

The GOPe has already “screwed everything up” for 2016 with their corportist agenda, TPA, amnesty, etc. Trump is unwinding the damage to the GOP brand caused by the greedy beltway pigs. We should be applauding him for that.

"This is Trump’s, “Act of Love.”

If you know of another candidate that even SAYS they will build a wall and deport all criminal aliens, I'd like to know who it is.

Especially if they are to the right of Trump and says they will deport ALL illegals...or even not legalize them.

I would vote for that guy.

“I doubt it because a wall will probably cost tens of billions to build and maintain. Deportation is going to be in the range of hundreds of billions.”

As others have noted, we spend more money on welfare in ONE WEEKEND than it costs to build the wall. If we want to build it, it will get done. The price is trivial. And so is the net cost, since we won’t require nearly as many border agents as an open border requires, once the wall is completed.

"There is not a way, contrary to popular belief, to fence the entire border and keep it patrolled."

That's absurd.

We built the interstate Highway system, 100's of thousands of miles of it.

Yes, contrary to your ignorance, we can build a wall along the border.

As long as we stop illegal entry into the U.S. by foreigners. Build the wall!!! End it! Put military in dangerous area to go to war with Mexican Drug Cartels. Stop the flood, the weed out the undesirables.

Let’s come up with the Merit system!

Loyal to US, loves US
Speak English
No criminal record
Productive, works not on any state welfare assistance

What else?

I approve of the “Merit System”. Illegals who have the integrity and merit to leave before they are caught should be permitted to apply for legal entry to the United States, just like any other nonresident. All other illegals should be permanently barred from any path to citizenship or even to legal presence in our country. Those illegals who used their time wisely should have marketable skills and English proficiency, which may help them in legal entry once our border is secure.

Sorry, dear sir or madam...but it isn’t feasible.

I am of course making an assumption that you have been to the Texas border. You know the terrain and know that an unprotected fence will stop jack squat. Even protected...the “protectors” will be hamstrung.

Of course we built miles of highway. We also put a man on the moon. The situations don’t equate.

I see you fly the Cal flag. Tell me, is there a fence along the entire Cal border? As short as it is? And how is that workin’ out for ya. And if there is a complete border fence...who paid for it?

Trump’s solution is reasonable.

Americans don’t have what it takes to solve this. Would have to stop employing them, giving them welfare, and stop giving them medical services to stop the flow. If we build a wall, they will simply use El Chapo’s tunnel or come by sea or by air.
