The state of Kentucky has begun imposing a religious test on volunteer pastor counselors in its youth division, insisting that they refrain from calling homosexuality “sinful” and dismissing those who cannot bend their religious faith to accommodate the state requirements.
The policy was uncovered by Liberty Counsel, which has sent a letter to Bob Hayter, commissioner of the Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice, demanding that the state religious test be dropped and that a dismissed counselor be reinstated.
“Liberty Counsel writes regarding the blatantly unconstitutional revocation of volunteer prison minister status of ordained Christian minister David Wells, who has provided voluntary spiritual counseling and mentorship to juvenile inmates under the control of the Department of Juvenile Justice. … This revocation was issued by Warren County Regional Juvenile Detention Center on the basis of the April 4, 2014, DJJ Policy 912, which mandates full DJJ support of homosexuality and transvestism.
“With no evidence of any violation of DJJ policy on Mr. Wells’ part, his volunteer status was revoked by the Warren RJDC superintendent because he could not sign a state-mandated statement that homosexuality was not ‘sinful,’ among other things,” the letter said.
The policy states that DJJ staff, volunteers and others “shall not imply or tell LGBTQI juveniles that they are abnormal, deviant, sinful or that they can or should change their sexual orientation or gender identity.”

Oh that the people who write headlines would take the time necessary to use as many words as necessary to CLEARLY communicate the concepts hinted at in same!
That would be known to those of us who study the scriptures as the way the ‘Mark’ of the beast works.
It’s not a physical mark. It’s the way you must think and act in accords with the state, or one cannot make a living.

Today though 66 million+ have unbounded faith in the “goodness” of the U.S. government.
You are free to exercise any religion you wish in the properly zoned structure for religious worship on the day of worship during regulated worship hours, and hear the officially approved message from the licensed pastor.

Its not the pastor who called it sinful. He is just passing along information.

The house of America is no longer worthy. Spread the gospel to people who will hear it. Those who do not wish to hear it know who Jesus is, and they have chosen another. There’s no reason to force it on them. Even Jesus said so.
Yes, and for those splitting hairs by saying that the pastors don’t have a right to hold these Biblical views, what of banks like Chase requiring employees to fill out questionaires-non-anonymously-asking them if they are sodomite/himosexual or if they are “allies”? How are their private views of homosexuality relevant to their jobs in the private sector? If they can be dismissed for their private views not conforming to support for the sodomite agenda, how is that not infringement of their right to free practice of religion? How could they separate their views more than by merely holding them privately, but that’s too much for the sodomite agenda, everyone will be forced to make their stance public, and woe betide those whose beliefs can’t and do not support the sodomite agenda?
I wiuld say Liberty Ciunsel disagrees wuth yiu, andgiven their win/loss record, so do almost all the courts they argue in front of.
No folks, really. Electing lesser evil is just fine. No worries at all.
Notyet. First attempts are in thecourts. Liberty Counsel almost always wins ther cases. Amazing track record.

The Pastor is not there to spread the Gospel to the people administering the youth program, he is there to spread the Gospel to youth IN the program. They have the constitutional right to counsel from Pastors as much as anyone else. They are not wards of the State.

Win/loss records for lawyers are just an indication of how good they are at picking and choosing what to take to trial. It isn’t like a football schedule where you have to play the game even if you know you’re going to get creamed.

The communist Chinese had a state-approved “catholic” church that was never recognized by the Vatican. If a Chinese belonged to the real Roman Catholic Church, he risked being imprisoned.

But they wouldn’t be in a “program” if they had options to walk away either.
We don’t need more cultural Christianity. That is what weakens our theology. We need people who are committed enough to seek Jesus and not have him force-fed through a “program”.
Yeah, but this is about the state hiring pastors in a counseling role.
