Trump's Special Counsel: He's Going to Be the Republican Candidate
Hannity ^ | July 23 2015 | Hannity

Posted on 07/25/2015 8:35:09 AM PDT by WilliamIII

Trump Organization Vice President and special counsel to Donald Trump Michael Cohen said tonight on "Hannity" that the National Border Patrol Council put pressure on border patrol agents to cancel a meeting with Trump at the U.S.-Mexico border today.

Cohen said he believes that the union told the local chapter to step aside or there would be "problems."

He said that this doesn't change the simple fact that there's a real immigration problem in this country, and reform is necessary.

Cohen said that the liberal media is going after Trump right now for drawing attention to illegal immigration and the failures of the Department of Veterans Affairs.

"What the media is doing is they're looking to divide," Cohen said. "They're looking to make Mr. Trump into the outsider, which by the way he is. He's not a politico. He's a mega-billionaire real estate developer, celebrity, author, movie star, etc. That's what he is. He's not a politico. And they're afraid."

Entropy, let’s discuss, honestly, this list:

1. Illegals. There has been some recent scuttlebutt about his position on this issue and the border fence. And, I know the response of Trumpers, but how can he be opposed to illegals and “allow hard working” ones to remain?

2. Military - How is he strong on his other then talking about vets and setting up a fund for them. What is his vision for the military?

3. Veterans: I agree with you here. He has been AWESOME here.

4. Foreign Trade - He has the right ideas about China. But, what about his foreign interests for business?

5. Obamacare - He supported and still does, SINGLE PAYER.

6. Balanced budgets - Really? When did he say that and how will he accomplish this?

7. Iran - What makes him Conservative on Iran? Saying that Persians are skilled negotiators and that it was a bad deal doesn’t make him Conservative. Right, yes, Conservative, not necessarily.

8. ISIS - What is he going to do about ISIS? He opposed the Iraq War. Bombing oil fields won’t do it.

9. Infrastructure - What has he said about this?

Just asking. I have not heard him espouse anything on any of these issues.

Right now I'm leaning towards Ted Cruz because he is really solid on the social issues and Trump is kinda squishy on them. The problem is that currently Cruz is not getting a lot of traction. His speech on the Senate Floor yesterday really laid down the gauntlet and showed Cruz to be a man of unparalleled principles.

Cruz will be lucky to get a broom closet for an office unless McConnell either resigns or pretends that Cruz didn't call him a bald faced liar on the floor of the Senate.

What he did was powerful and showed a leadership I haven't seen since Reagan.

I had waivered in my support because of several questionable votes by Cruz. But none of the other candidates, except Trump have shown the courage to stand up to both the media and the Washington Cartel. I would be happy to vote for either of them. Both of them would be nice too.

Trump/Cruz or Cruz/Trump.

I have a feeling there is a very large contingent of middle class voters who are fed up with both parties and having these two real mavericks in the race is great. I can only hope one of them wins the nomination.

Nice list, it’s good to see it all laid out simply.

“Just asking. I have not heard him espouse anything on any of these issues.”

Virtually all the candidates choose a few of their pet issues and hammer home on these while out there on the stump. Reagan used this technique, he chose 2 or 3 main issues to campaign on, and won. Trump’s issues are illegal immigration and the lousy treatment of our Vets, primarily. If asked questions on other topics, he always has an answer, and so far, I’ve been pleased with most of his answers, because they are conservative ones we endorse.

As you don’t like him, and haven’t from the gitgo, I doubt you even listen to much of anything he says. I also know, as do you I’m sure, that ALL of the candidates, Trump included, will be questioned thoroughly on all of the hot button issues at the debates, so within a couple of weeks, you will know a lot more about the candidates than you do today.

Trump has only been in the race for about a month, and is a businessman primarily, not a politician. We will learn much more about him and his views as time marches on. If you want pat answers, listen to the politician candidates, if you want perhaps less pat but a whole lot more honest answers, listen to Trump.

Trump is the right man at the right time in history. He’s going to do just fine, with or without your individual support. He can easily live without your approval as many other Freepers will pick up the slack and carry Trump’s banner for him (or wear his “make America great again” hat, lol. I love that hat.

It isn’t that I don’t like Trump...but I can ask questions about his candidacy. I know, I know...criticizing the Donald is off limits to many on here. But, Donald isn’t a Conservative...

Tell me about those answers so far. What was his response on Obamacare? Other than, we need to repeal it and my plan will be awesome?

What about the fence? I think just the other day, he back tracked and talked about only putting a fence in certain areas of the border. And, about those illegals who work hard staying here...

What about the 2nd Amendment? Did he flip on that too?

Gay marriage and the SCOTUS rulings?

Donald never really answers questions directly...if you listen to him. He rambles, starts the point and then diverts. It drives me nuts.

While you are right, I can get answers from politicians, you are being disingenuous. First, he has planned on running for awhile...he should know where he stands on the issues. Second, while he isn’t a politician right now, he wants to be one.

Trump is doing some pretty good things...but the right man at the right time in history? Really?

BTW, I don’t think many Freepers will carry his banner when they find out he still holds MANY Democrat positions.

“BTW, I don’t think many Freepers will carry his banner when they find out he still holds MANY Democrat positions.”

Where is your proof that Trump still holds MANY Democrat positions. Cough them up. You want lists from others, produce your own, and you want detail, produce detail. And I mean a current list of his alleged Dem positions, not ones from the past when Trump had to make sure Dem politicians didn’t attack him for what he said and try to destroy his businesses for having been overt on politics in what they considered the wrong way.

Perfect proof of what would have happened to Trump then by Dems for speaking out in an overtly conservative manner is look at what they are doing to him now that he is. They are trying to destroy his businesses. See Mayor deBlasio’s attempts to do so at this very moment, in NYC where Trump does much of his business. Now Trump doesn’t care as much, as he has built his real estate empire, branched out into other business areas (he has approximately 500 businesses according to his financial disclosure form), and is filthy rich.

So he can now speak his mind with impunity, and he is. The mayor of NYC will rue the day he went after Trump’s empire if indeed Trump wins the Presidency. Revenge by Trump will be sweet, and you know he will bring the hammer down on deBlasio, bigtime. I look forward to that day.

You know, Trump is out there just about every day now, in the public, espousing his conservative positions loudly and openly. You seem to think that the minute he would become President, he will go back on all of these positions and revert to being a Democrat. Trump loves this country and is a nationalist. He has made promises to the nation as to what his vision for America is.

You stand much more of a chance of backtracking by most of the Pub political candidates if they win the Presidency than you do this businessman candidate who has skin in the game for his businesses’ success, as Trump is a doer, not just a talker like the rest. I pin my hopes on Trump. I’m sick to death of slick political speak. Up to my ears in it, all talk, no do.

“Correct on all that, do not know where he is on the singular most important issue, 2nd ammendment. That will be obummer ‘ s next attack.”

Trump will stop any assaults on the 2nd Amendment (by the way, Trump packs). Some of the other Pub candidates, I worry more than a bit about. Trump will defend the 2nd Amendment, not attempt to destroy it. You will find out more about his positions as he develops his platform more thoroughly for public consumption. Trump’s campaign is only one month old, and having not been a politician, he has to work hard now to develop fully his platform quickly for all to see, but that’s all Trump has one his whole career, work hard.

If you have a 500 business empire, you can’t sit on your thumbs. Trump never has. The 2nd Amendment will be in good hands in a Trump regime. And he will build up our military to a position of strength once again. It is one of his main priorities that he has spoken to.

1. Please name which of the 15 others will deport ALL illegals.

2. Trump wants to make military so strong, there will be need for wars. No one in their right minds will want to go war with us. I heard him say that on TV.

4. Trump has said “At this stage in his life, welfare of the country is much more important than even his life”.
That explains why he traveled to the border ignoring threat from El Chapo Guzman.

5. I have not heard him say he supports single payer. And I watch news a lot. May be he said that many years back. I am for mandated healthcare, but not single payer. Too much fraud in Medicare & Medicaid. See my profile page for how I would set up healthcare. But Trump is definitely against Obamacare.

6. I saw him say that on a TV interview. If Trump has to balance budgets in his 500 businesses, I would think it is in his blood. Note that easiest way to balance budgets is by growing the economy.

7. Iran is easy to answer. Do more of what brought Iran to negotiating table in the first place. More sanctions will be a good starting point.

8. You need to understand that wars can not be fought without money. ISIS’s main source of money is oil fields. If you cut the snakes head off, the body dies.

9. Trump travels all over the world frequently. He sees the world class infra structure in other countries first hand. Ours is old and falling apart. He said that on TV. I noticed that myself when last year I visited Taipei, Hong Kong, and Singapore. The infra structure in those places made ours look like 3rd world when I returned.

I watch news a lot, and I have heard Trump say on at least 2 occasions, he is very strong on the 2nd Amendment. In my own opinion, there should be some control on what kind of weapons a Dylann Roof or Colorado killer Holmes should be allowed to purchase. But owning a shotgun or a hand gun must be an easy process for every law abiding citizen. There should not be any licensing cost to own such defensive weapons. This is a complex issue. Either extreme is very bad.

I do not “watch news” any more. It, the news on TV, is intentionally misleading. I only believe what I see or read from reliable sources. Conservative talk radio is the best source of news. Until I actually see what Trump is doing I will be very cautious. Since all I have seen of him up to a month ago is left leaning, democrat support, I will not be able to support or vote for him. Talk is cheap, trust but verify is what we do.

I agree, but because Trump seems to do so well there could be four years of Trump with a VP Cruz followed by 8 years of President Cruz.
So far it appears Cruz and Trump really like each other.
