Stay Classy: Trump Used To Test His Dates For AIDS
The Daily Beast ^ | July 25, 2015 | Asawin Suebsaeng

In the early ‘90s, the Donald said he would ask his ladies to swing by the doctor for an AIDS test before he’d wine and dine them.

Future American President Donald J. Trump appears to be a tad germophobic.

“One of the curses of American society is the simple act of shaking hands, and the more successful and famous one becomes the worse this terrible custom seems to get,” the 2016 Republican presidential frontrunner wrote in his book The Art of the Comeback, published in 1997. “I happen to be a clean hands freak. I feel much better after I thoroughly wash my hands, which I do as much as possible.” (He has repeatedly described the custom of handshaking as “barbaric,” because of the germs.)

But his fear of disease goes well beyond his worries about catching a cold from glad handers. According to an early ‘90s Associated Press article, Trump—then a “newly eligible bachelor”—talked about how he asked women to agree to an AIDS test at his doctor’s office before he would take them out on a date.

“It’s one of the worst times in the history of the world to be dating,” he explained in late June 1991, roughly four months before Magic Johnson announced that he tested HIV-positive, and before Queen frontman Freddie Mercury died of AIDS.

Trump made his comments shortly after his divorce from Ivana Trump was finalized, and after he had been seen out on the town with TV personality Marla Maples and then model Carla Bruni.

“I have been known to say that to women,” the real estate mogul and notorious womanizer told Newsday when asked if he actually asked potential lovers to test for STDs. “It’s one way to be careful. There are a lot of ways. I’m saying, take all of those ways and double them, because you will need them…It’s very scary out there.”

After some years of wooing and HIV-testing, Trump would settle down and remarry, twice. But along the way there was one famous woman he regretted never asking out: Princess Diana.

“Do you think you would have seriously had a shot?” NBC’s Stone Phillips asked Trump during a Dateline segment from November 1997. (Princess Diana had died that past August.) “I think so, yeah,” Trump replied. “I always have a shot.”

Trump claimed he never asked her out because he was always too busy. It is unclear if The Donald would have AIDS-tested the late Princess of Wales, had he not been so busy.

Can’t blame him in the least.

Nope. At the time he was a bachelor and Trump's fondness for hot young women was legendary. 25 years ago people were scared crazy of AIDS. The media had everyone believing that heterosexuals were spreading it to each other left and right.

Why not, he’s better looking than the Jughead Charles she was married to. He’s almost got royal money.

Right. It's not a complaint, and the contractor didn't hesitate to correct the problem.

My point is that Trump -- even by his own admission -- has some odd personality traits that drive him to do some strange things. In addition to washing his hands dozens of times every day, he also refuses to touch elevator buttons (an odd habit for someone who builds skyscrapers for a living, LOL) and won't shake hands with people.

When I was a bachelor my fondness for hot young women, hell hot older women too come to think of it, was pretty legendary.

Not germophobic, but prudent. Ideally, he’d abstain, but Trump’s no gentleman.

I heard him talk about shaking hands in an interview. He really doesn’t like to. That shows how committed he is to this campaign, he’s shaking hundreds of hands a day with no indication that it bothers him.

Trump: "I'm telling you -- it's not level. You have to rebuild that thing." The guy went out there and eyed the balcony from street level, and it looked perfectly fine to him. He then went up to the 17th floor and examined it closely with a level, and it was out of the correct alignment by something like 1/4 of an inch on a balcony that was 20+ feet wide.

Extremely intelligent people always baffle the average person.

Elevator buttons are absolutely disgusting.
I purposely delay because I know an overly-eager person will likely press my floor while traveling in either direction.

These days, unfortunately, none of that is strange. Your local WalMart offers disinfectant towelettes at the entrance for people who fear touching a non-disinfected shopping cart.

Anybody who’d willing have relations with somebody they knew had AIDS would be an Asawin. Caution if the face of a then life-ending disease would be smart.

Based on the woman he’s married to now, if he does it will prove he is completely out of his gourd! :)

Yuk, HAAACK, PTEW

Sorry, threw up a little in my mouth there!

There's nothing "strange" about wanting the job done correctly. What you were describing was extremely high intelligence in the spatial relations ability, which is an area where men tend to score higher than women on standardized tests. It is found in architects, engineers, designers, etc.

he also refuses to touch elevator buttons (an odd habit for someone who builds skyscrapers for a living, LOL) and won't shake hands with people.

In the days before antibiotics, refined people always used to wear gloves in public.

Do not forget the leftist going crazy at the suggestions that homosexuals be quarantined because it was proven they could not be trusted to restrain their impulses to random encounters.

If you mentioned isolating the disease ridden queers, all hell would come down on you. Look at the effect it has had on modern society, letting them run amok with the diseases they carry.

Trump was only single for 6 months during the 90s. (He was engaged to M.M. by the time his divorce came through) So he these women he allegedly dated, were while he was married. Back in the pre-Trump days, Freepers criticized Clinton for his adultery. Now, there are Freepers who think it's a plus that Trump has total disrespect for marriage.

Hey, whatever. If Trump ever says that communism is the best economic system there is TrumpFreepers will say, "Yay communism. Finally someone will stand up to the media and say communism is good!"
