Ted Cruz clobbers Code Pink protesters in Iran debate — and does it with CLASS

Code Pink should have known better. Ted Cruz is a champion debater.

The Republican U.S. senator from Texas had just begun delivering his remarks at Thursday’s Stop Iran DC rally when he was loudly interrupted by a group of Code Pink activists with megaphones.

“We want diplomacy, not war!” they said.

The demonstrators for Code Pink, a left-wing women’s peace group, were soon shouted down by a crowd that was there to hear Cruz speak.

“We want Ted!” they chanted.

Cruz restored order out of what was soon becoming chaos when he invited a Code Pink spokeswoman to debate. It wasn’t even close.

Some of Cruz’s points:

“This deal will send over $100 billion to Iran, and those billions of dollars will be used to murder Americans by jihadists.”

“I recognize the folks in Code Pink like to hold up signs saying ‘Peace With Iran.’ Do you know who doesn’t reciprocate those views?” he asked. “Iran. In the midst of this negotiation, the Ayatollah Khamenei led thousands of Iranians in chanting ‘Death to America’ while they burned American flags and Israeli flags.”

“Listen to President [Hassan] Rouhani of Iran when he says, ‘We have gotten everything we want out of this deal.’ This deal is a complete capitulation by President [Barack] Obama to radical Islamic theocratic zealots that want to murder millions of Americans.”

“I would encourage our friends from Code Pink to do what they suggested they didn’t want to do, which is learn from history. Munich in 1938, they may well too have been holding up banners saying, ‘We want peace with Nazi Germany.’ You cannot have peace with a lunatic zealot who wants to murder you.”

Cruz eventually segued into what may have been his intended speech. By that point, Code Pink had little to say.

It would be impressive if he wasn't part of the problem on that Iran deal by signing an unconstitutional agreement to give Obama unconstitutional power over HIMSELF and Congress.

Frankly after doing that he should be ashamed to show his face on anything regarding that Iran scam.

Wrong!

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, released the following statement regarding votes on the Iran Nuclear Review Act:

“This bill was a missed opportunity. If Congress had acted to defend our constitutional authority – if Congress had adopted the Cruz-Toomey amendment – then we would be able to stop a bad Iran deal. Instead, the odds are now overwhelming that under these ground rules President Obama will negotiate, and Congress will acquiesce to, a terrible deal that allows Iran to acquire nuclear weapons and will endanger the lives of millions of Americans and our allies.

I voted no on cloture because we should have insisted on amendments to put real teeth in this bill. Ultimately, I voted yes on final passage because it may delay, slightly, President Obama’s ability to lift the Iran sanctions and it ensures we will have a Congressional debate on the merits of the Iran deal. I will continue to lead the fight to prevent the Islamic Republic of Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and to protect the national security of America and our allies.”

And yet we still have to listen to the Donald Trump crap 24/7. Cruz gives the microphone away and takes it back with ideas. Trump bullies the microphone away, threatens anyone who objects with a willing mainstream press flogging and talks third party to shut people up.

Trump is playing the media, and Cruz is the adult in the room. For them to be working against each other is not in the interests of the US, or conservatism.

If any two people need to find a way to work together, these two people do.

In fact, if you consider what Trump is doing right now, it is what every good VP has done for every successful admin - say the things the President shouldn’t say.

The thing about George S Patton, was for all his reputation for ego, Patton was an engineer. He figured out how to make things work and made them work. He was the first to combine close air support with infantry and armor.

How’d he do it? As much as he said he hated the air folks, he listened to them. They patiently explained how 10 seconds in the air translated to miles on the ground, and that wind and other conditions made it difficult to get a plane from the runway to a point over ground at a precise time.

Instead, if the air support were to be allowed some leeway in controlling the time of the attack, the support he needed would be there. He took them up on it, and the rest was history. So many lives were saved on the ground in US forces.

Trump might have that humility. I don’t think Trump beats Cruz in a debate, especially since they agree with one another on almost everything.

Can Trump be President - I don’t know. Can he communicate? You bet. Cruz is not the kind of guy that wants to tap into anger to win, but at the same time people are pissed, and he’s going to have to reckon that and reflect that his actions, not words, reflect that.

That Cruz ceded the mike knowing he was going to pound the crap out of Code Pink, of all groups, and sent them away questioning their entire life is something I’ve never seen before in politics. Not even Reagan had the sack to do what Cruz did in that video.

Cruz, in a just world, should be President. I don’t even think its debatable now. Imagine a President that gets there are certain people you can’t negotiate with. Some wars that have to be fought.

How do we recknon all of this? Cruz and Trump. Can Trump work with like-minded people? Cruz can work with any kind of people, it seems. I’m literally sitting here shaking my head thinking about it.

I feel we are staring into the abyss, and we have an active enemy in the White House. How much more damage can he do before he leaves without destroying his party is the question.

I know you from your reasoned posts over the years, and I can see it too, but would Trump take that kind of job.

Talk about pay cuts.

How does Trump transfer his mojo to Cruz, who needs it in terms of polls. Cruz seems to have the cash, which is great, and unlike Romney/Ryan debates, where you were nervous every second, a Trump/Cruz debate team against the left is going to be a slaughter. Cruz will wipe the floor, in a reasoned, fatherly, kind way with his opponent, while Trump will berate his opponent for his hypocrisy for an hour to the cheers of everyone who isn’t on a politicians payroll.

Would Trump be a VP?

Treasury, not Commerce, and maybe.

You seem confident Trump might go for something like that, which I find heartening.

In a conservative world, probably a half a dozen departments go away. Energy, Commerce, HHS, Agriculture, among others. Air Force gets split up and subsumed by the Army and Navy. Army controls the A-10, navy gets NORAD, Secret Service and Navy get Cyber.

Treasury would be ideal for Trump, if he took it.
