The disease affecting many on the political Left in America, the A.B.I.S. (Anything But Islam Syndrome), is one of the most baffling illnesses to hit our shores in centuries. From President Obama claiming that Islamists who call themselves “Islamic State” and commit terrorist acts in the name of Islam is “not Islamic” to Hollywood limousine liberals like Ben Affleck losing control and blasting talk show host and fellow Left winger, Bill Maher, calling him “ugly, gross and racist” for stating that radical Islamists kill people, the disease is impossible to understand.
Examples of liberals defending jihadist behavior are far too numerous to detail. From elected officials to entertainers to grandmas and college students on social media, they can be found by the millions singing a similar tune, defending people who are beheading, dropping off buildings, burning, drowning, burying alive, and worse (if they can think of worse) in the name of service to their god. The White House, via State Dept. Deputy Spokesperson Marie Huff, has gone so far as to suggest a driving force behind such bombings and beheadings being a lack of quality jobs. Yeah, jobs! That’s it. A lousy job leads you to cut people’s heads off! Anything but Islam.
It’s baffling behavior on many levels but none more so than the fact that the overwhelming majority of those suffering from A.B.I.S. are not practicing Muslims themselves. One can (almost) understand a Muslim defending fellow Muslim atrocities by playing the “one bad apple/don’t judge all by the actions of a few” card. But such people are extremely difficult to find.

Leftists in America will actually side with those who will kill gays over those who’d rather not bake a cake for them. Why? Anything but Islam syndrome.
Islam is the neglected child of liberalism. The latchkey kids of the left’s ideology.
While off working to force their progressive oppression off on real producers, they leave their charges at home alone unsupervised. The first instance with the child strangles the kitten or garrotes the dog is seen as “acting out” “the dog/cat provoked my baby.”
Graduating to more vicious acts the Islamic child becomes more uncontrollable, and the ‘parent’ becomes more defensive, lashes out at criticism and cannot possibly realize their baby is in fact, a monster through and through. They cannot because they love them and they cannot admit they were horribly wrong.
It is the standard leftist response. When unassailably confronted with the truth, lash out vehemently and double down.

Liberals and Muslims share a common strategy, fascist tyranny, authority over everything by an unassailable leader. Obama is the liberal’s Khomeini.

No doubt. The common theme here with liberals, socialists, Nazis, fascists, et al is oppression and control.

That’s an interesting analogy to be sure and probably more accurate than many Americans are willing to admit. The fuehrer and Khomeini didn’t need to execute people. Their followers took care of that.
President Obama is not executing dissenters, of course, but the regime certainly attacks and attempts to punish anyone who dares not follow the party’s line. On the other hand, the party rises to defend anyone who follows the party line.
It’s a softer sort of fascism, but people’s lives are destroyed regardless.
Americans have no idea how they are being led astray and kept uninformed by a Big Brother news manager in the White House. The Progressives and Obama administration have been more effective than Joseph Goebbles (Hitler’s Minister of Propaganda) ever was in Hitler’s government.
A common, overriding cause (the destruction of democracy) make leftists and Islamists odd bedfellows.
Ours are mostly international socialists, but true statement. Totalitarians making nice with each other for a time, think Molotov-Ribbentrop.
Had Internet technology and television been present in 1930’s Europe, I have no doubts the Germans who have been masters at the craft.
They had Leni Riefenstahl with the film industry, Goebbels and others with radio, Streicher with newsprint - and if the other mediums were there, they’d have found masters there, too.
The Left knows that the US stands in the way of world socialism.
Muzzies know the US stands in the way of world sharia.
Thus, they share the same short term goal, destruction of the US.
Once the US is eliminated as the last significant force for good on earth, Leftists and muzzie butchers can work out their differences.
That may be part of it but I believe most recognize the muslim terrorist are working for the dem party.
It’s more “anything for the party” and the fear of what will happen to them and anyone else that didn’t support the party once the party achieves absolute power if they don’t.
Most of these people are smart enough to know what happens to people that deviate from the party line once leftist achieve absolute power.
When Bill Ayers and co. calmly talked about the need to exterminate 25 million that couldn’t be reeducated, they knew that wasn’t just talk because it happens every time the left achieves absolute power.
Islamics seem to have a strong International focus. I find it somewhat odd that US leftists are not interested in fixing Mexico with more socialism, as an example to lead the international Progressive Transformation.
Actually, I have found western people defending Islam, one way or another, in the last 10 yrs for example, not necessarily to be on either side of the political spectrum - they can be politically left or right. There has been and is much confusion since 9/11 (a milestone re Islam and the public in the west) - a lot of conflicting messages from dear politicians, and the media.
But to quote from the article about A.B.I.S., the author leaves out another group.. namely, those who are not muslims, ex-muslims or practicing muslims, but have lived under Islam or Islamic regimes, over the yrs, decades, or even centuries, and know the horrors, by experience.
In fact, several yrs ago, some guy here on FR who had lived in Iran for a few yrs during the Shah, and subsequently had married a muslim Iranian woman, who converted to Christianity, went on a personal attack as to why I questioned Islam when I'm not a muslim?
Yet my mother a non-muslim-Iranian by birth, and my mother's relatives (all non-muslims) who have lived in Iran for centuries know what Islam has brought to them much better than that Freeper ever experienced during his few yrs in Iran!
It’s the same thing the Left did with Communism. They denied the gulags, the KGB, the spies, the Soviet money going to the American Communist Party. Everything.
I have a thing for WWII movies (probably like many FReepers) and I try to keep informed about history, despite the “education” I received as a youth.
When I was younger I always wondered how the Germans were able to fall for the Nazis. Seemed almost incomprehensible to me that an entire country could be taken over by such an ideology. Likewise Russia and China.
I never thought I’d have a front row seat at it happening here, but now I realize it’s been going on pretty much my whole life.
P.S. - in general, superficial, theoretical knowledge and experience can be dangerous, and ignorance can be bliss.
