Joe Scarborough just nailed the GOP's Donald Trump problem

MSNBC host Joe Scarborough wrote a lengthy Facebook post on Tuesday about real-estate magnate Donald Trump and whether the Republican establishment should challenge his controversial presidential campaign.

"Trump will always be Trump, and there is no need for anyone in the Republican establishment to think otherwise. The best they can do is ride this wave of dissatisfaction and learn a lesson or two from it," Scarborough wrote.

Scarborough, a former Republican congressman and host of MSNBC's "Morning Joe," wrote that if front-running GOP candidates truly fear that Trump will harm their party, they should take it upon themselves to bring him down.

"But anyone looking for salvation from party leaders or major money players are looking in the wrong place. The burden of dethroning the Donald falls on GOP politicians like Jeb Bush, Scott Walker and others who have politely played by the old rules of an outdated political system that is no longer relevant to most Americans," he wrote. "The longer Trump's opponents play it safe, the longer Trump will continue his political ascent."

Anyone who would vote for a guy that gave a nickel to the likes of the Clintons and even Anthony Weiner deserves what they get. I’m amazed any conservative would look at the guy any not see what an opportunist the guy is.

. Of course he's an opportunist. That's why he's rich. So he gave money to political candidates? What businessman or woman doesn't try to hedge their bets? Do you think his contributing a few thousands dollars does anymore harm then quislings like McCain,Graham, Boehner and all other establishment politicians who actually aid, abet and support the leftists in enacting harmful legislation?

Plenty of ‘conservatives’ traded the lives of babies away in an effort to win election for a man that paid to kill them with his own cash.

Nothing the Crackhead wing of the ‘conservative’ movement does to rationalize their evil shocks me anymore.

Justifying crony capitalism, pay to play and bribery isn’t conservative.

Yea, who cares whether or not the guy has any principles, as long as he is rich? Sad.

Lest we forget, many Freepers condemned principled people as the problem in 12 and again in 14.

And since last November, Obama has gotten 100% of what he wants. What went wrong ?

Justifying crony capitalism, pay to play and bribery isn’t conservative.

What Trump did was perfectly legal and perfectly transparent. And the amount of money he's contributed to both parties was about equal up until 2010. Since 2011 he's given almost exclusively to Republicans, around a half a million dollars.

He's saying the right things, he's putting the focus on issues that need to be addressed, he's pissing off the right people and he's making this hugely entertaining.

Who would be a better President for America...Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump? Bernie Sanders or Donald Trump?

With the exception of Trump, Cruz or possibly Fiorina and maybe, maybe Walker (not convinced about that though) every other candidate in the GOP field either already has or would fold like cheap suits on their principles. They would get sucked into the leftist mentality and the country will be worse off.

I didn’t say it was illegal. But it is part of the continuation of the problem. That’s reality.

From the article:

Trump has been generating reams of national headlines since he launched his campaign last month while blasting Mexico for supposedly sending its "rapists" and other criminals across the US border.

Nothing "supposedly" about it. From GAO-11-187: Published: Mar 24, 2011--Criminal Alien Statistics: Information on Incarcerations, Arrests, and Costs:

The number of criminal aliens in federal prisons in fiscal year 2010 was about 55,000, and the number of SCAAP criminal alien incarcerations in state prison systems and local jails was about 296,000 in fiscal year 2009 (the most recent data available), and the majority were from Mexico.

Based on our random sample, GAO estimates that the criminal aliens had an average of 7 arrests, 65 percent were arrested at least once for an immigration offense, and about 50 percent were arrested at least once for a drug offense. Immigration, drugs, and traffic violations accounted for about 50 percent of arrest offenses. About 90 percent of the criminal aliens sentenced in federal court in fiscal year 2009 (the most recently available data) were convicted of immigration and drug-related offenses. About 40 percent of individuals convicted as a result of DOJ terrorism-related investigations were aliens.

SCAAP criminal aliens incarcerated in selected state prison systems in Arizona, California, Florida, New York, and Texas were convicted of various offenses in fiscal year 2008 (the most recently available data at the time of GAO's analysis). The highest percentage of convictions for criminal aliens incarcerated in four of these states was for drug-related offenses. Homicide resulted in the most primary offense convictions for SCAAP criminal aliens in the fifth state--New York--in fiscal year 2008. GAO estimates that costs to incarcerate criminal aliens in federal prisons and SCAAP reimbursements to states and localities ranged from about $1.5 billion to $1.6 billion annually from fiscal years 2005 through 2009;

Since 2011 he's given almost exclusively to Republicans, around a half a million dollars.

Then Rahm Emanuel must have switched parties when he ran for Mayor of Chicago and we all missed it. He got a pretty good chunk of Trump's cash.

Trump's contributions to Republicans began about the same time as his "conversion" to conservatism, as well as a critical WaPo article noting his campaign gifts to Ted Kennedy, Hillary ClLinton, Chuck Schumer, Elliot Spitzer and Charlie Rangel. He was a registered Democrat in 2008 and despite his donations, could not bring himself to identify as a Republican in 2012. And he's supposed to be the great conservative hope?

"Who would be a better President for America...Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump? Bernie Sanders or Donald Trump? "

We don't have to decide that question now, because we have conservatives still in the race. The question does not need to be begged.

Trump has plenty of dirty laundry, but it’s all been hanging out on the line for everyone to see for years. He has made no effort to hide any of it, unlike politicians, who fear exposure of their own and work hard to keep it hidden.

Opportunist? So who gave him the opportunity? Can’t the other candidates take advantage of the same opportunity?

No, because of their entitlement mentality they're sitting on their thumbs waiting for someone to "give them one".

Read the article again. What you quoted was from an article from 1999...a very long time ago when it comes to politics. On the MJ episode on 7/17 (also quoted in the article, but not the entire quote) he mentioned healthcare for poor being solved by market solutions, negotiating with hospitals, etc. Admittedly, he did not state an entire position, but it was not what you posted.

I honestly cant believe real conservatives are giving Trump a pass on basically everything just because he has the balls to take a stand and fight back against the RNC, the media, and anyone who crosses him.

There isn’t hardly a single issue that Trump hasn’t magically “evolved on” now that he is running as a Republican.

Do we REALLY want to roll the dice on a loose cannon who has “evolved” on nearly every major conservative issue who has a vindictive streak?

I can guarantee you the FIRST time conservatives or the tea party disagree with Trump (before or especially after taking office) he will stay true to form and will turn on us with a vingence.

It all comes down to trust for me.

I LIKE what Trump is “saying” and I LOVE how he is saying it. BUT, I dont trust him. And as you are now witnessing Trump is a bad person to cross and holds grudges.

Name even one politician who hasn’t done a single thing we conservatives disagree with?

Now imagine when we conservatives eventually disagree with Trump on something AFTER he has become president. And then think about his vindictive nature... and his ability to get things done.

I find that a scary thought.

Trump could turn on us.

Yes, he can. So let’s just cower and kiss a_ _ and vote for another RINO and LOSE another presidential election because more than 4 million sat home in 2012 and more will this time. We are fed up with voting for the “popular” choice as determined by everyone and every other organization except us and we’re supposed to take a big bite of the s_ _ t sandwich and like it.

HEY FOLKS; FREEP THIS POLL from Greta VanSusteren on FOX:

Thus far, 73.42 Percent say NO and 26.58 say YES.

Trouble is, there is no guessing what "opportunity" he will take advantage of next. People who lack principles are unpredictable; not a good thing as Commander in Chief.

I am astonished how gullible conservatives are gobbling up Trump's latest schtick.
