I'm old, and recently it seems that a lot of what is going on in the world, and most especially America, confuses me. No, I don't have Alzheimer's or senile dementia. It just confuses me that so many adults, especially politicians, can't see things clearly.
Take the newest huge liberal cause: diversity. When I was younger, we had affirmative action, which meant that minorities who were not as well-qualified as a white person for acceptance at a college, to be hired for a job, or to be promoted got all of this because of the color of their skin. Evidently that didn't work out as well as it should have, because now we have the major problem of diversity, or the lack thereof.
Central Washington University, who just won a prestigious award for diversity, defines it thus: individual differences (e.g., personality, learning styles, and life experiences) and group/social differences (e.g., race/ethnicity, class, gender, sexual orientation, country of origin , and ability as well as cultural, political, religious, and other affiliations).
A study I read said that only about 30% of America's companies have diversity departments. Who could possibly keep track of all of those things? If we want to be truly diverse, what about including physical differences: weight, height, vision, body shape, degree and type of disability, etc.? And what about intellectual differences? Why isn't anyone screaming about equal rights for all the people who could be included in one of those groups? Shouldn't Central Washington University include the items enumerated above in their definition?
Television isn't totally diverse. There is BET (Black Entertainment Television) and other channels to meet the needs of other groups. However, there isn't a WET (White Entertainment Television) channel. It simply wouldn't be permitted, because it wouldn't be inclusive or diverse...

Yes. Diversity means gathering a bunch of people who hold almost identical Marxist ideologies but who have different skin tones and sexual perversions. Kind of a Rainbow Marxism.
Failure to be appropriately ideological results in being a non-diverse person, regardless of where your skin or perversion falls on the rainbow. Failure to be in the “of color” part of the rainbow requires that your Marxism be even purer than others in order to be genuinely diverse.
By definition, conservatives, rednecks, tea partiers, and the like are non-diverse non-beings.

I should add that being diverse means having to participate in public, and rather embarrassing sacraments of diversity.
For example, men (who start with a cloud of non-diverse, counterrevolutionary suspicion about them) must earnestly pretend in public that another man cutting off his genitals doesn’t creep them out, in fact, it must be celebrated. They must also keep a straight face when gender theorists go on about penis patriarchy and whenever the vagina slogan de jour is bandied about.
It is very important that they not show that they think these ideas are stupid, silly, meaningless, or otherwise anything less than, well, holy writ.
Whites (also presumptively suspicious) must earnestly try to figure out how their dirt poor immigrant grandparents gave them a ten generation white privilege head start—in fact mentioning that you are not a Vanderbilt is in rather bad taste. If, however, you are a Vanderbilt, but have grown dreadlocks and rejected your ancestor’s values, you get some slack on the whole diversity thing—especially if you give money to your diverse betters.
Remember the line about “diplomacy is the art of saying ‘nice doggy’ until you can find a suitable rock”? That’s Leftist diversity: persuading the dominant subculture to cede influence, norms, values & taboos until a divergent/dissenting subculture can leverage & seize control and suppress others.
It’s also intended to dilute Judeo-Christianity.
It means you stop living like you were raised and except what the constantly offended want you to do.
Diversity: "We will tolerate everyone, so long as they aren't white."
As Allan Bloom counseled, diversity has zero intrinsic virtue. Today, instead of opening the mind to new things, its effect is to close the mind to the wisdom of the past.
Diversity, to the left, means uniformity of thought - all along the lines that they officially sanction.
Yet another example of Marxist-Leninist corruption of the language.
If you are a straight, Christian, Caucasian male no matter what you do or say, you're wrong.
Diversity means having someone around who is always pissed off about what you say, do, and think.
