Controversial Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump leads the GOP primary in a new ABC News/Washington Post poll...
That's even though a majority of Americans, including most Republicans, say Trump does not represent the Republican Party's core values, and six in 10 overall -- including three in 10 in his own party -- say they wouldn't consider him for president were he the GOP nominee. ...
How long the Trump surge will last is an open question; this poll was conducted Thursday through Sunday before his controversial criticism Saturday of Sen. John McCain's status as a war hero. And Trump's support was conspicuously lower Sunday than in the first three previous days.
Trump's support was 28 percent in this survey's first three nights of polling. While the sample size of registered leaned Republicans on Sunday is quite small, he dropped to single digits that day.

Yea, these “Republicans” today make one long for the late Tom Dewey.
I don't know if I ever qualified for Bush Bot status (I hope not) but I did support and defend George W Bush here in FR for many years, 2001 - 2006.
I will not vote for Jeb under any circumstances whatsoever. Jeb gets the nomination, I vote 3rd party.
The only 3 I will even consider voting for is Cruz, Walker or Trump.
They’re not Republicans. They’re liberals with an R after their names instead of a D.
I don’t what’s worse... them pretending to be conservatives, or us for falling for it over and over again.
Trump isn’t pretending, at least. He’s got the most to lose of anyone in it... it’s HIS own money he’s spending for this.
Glad he’s there.
The GOP core values can be found at the same place the democrat core values are found.
“Can someone explain or list the Republican Party’s core values
for me? So far, I haven’t been able to determine if it has any.”
When you are the party largely of corporate lobbyists, you don’t need any.
I can’t believe so many people are falling for this Trump charade. He’s not a serious candidate and it’s beginning to show. Serious candidates don’t give out a U.S. Senators private phone number or say that McCain isn’t a war hero. Trump is a false flag candidate for Jeb. Problem is, people are already starting to get Trump fatigue.
Ted Cruz is the only viable candidate and he will win in the end.
Trump is driving the narrative and bringing up important issues that should be brought up in this campaign. He’s awoken a lethargic base that thought Jeb and the establishment were a forgone conclusion. If that is all he does this cycle, I’m fine with that.
I couldn’t give a damn about Linda and Johnnie’s feelings. They have their own big mouths and elitist arrogance that I’m sick of hearing too. I’m sure Linda can afford another phone number.
I believe Trump is the only person ever to have stood up to Loveable Lindsey. SC people are not impressed with Trump on this.
