Nuclear deal: Saudis signal they'll act before Iran gets the money

Amman, Jordan — The nuclear deal that will lift tough sanctions on Iran is mobilizing Saudi Arabia to turn the tide against its regional rival in Yemen and Syria before it makes an economic recovery, military officials and analysts say.

According to the sources, the military component of the Saudi offensive will include the use of special forces on the ground in Yemen, and a potentially widened use of Saudi and allied Sunni air power in Syria.

The Saudis have signaled their intent to employ ground forces in Yemen previously, but have not done so. But the potential military initiatives, coupled with signs that the Saudis are cultivating better diplomatic ties with Russia and China, would be a strong indication of how the Iran nuclear deal could impact the regional order in the Middle East.

---

According to the military officials and analysts, the nuclear deal has left the Saudis scrambling to make as many battlefield gains in neighboring states as possible before sanctions are lifted over the next year, potentially leaving Iran flush with more than $100 billion in unfrozen funds and new revenues – resources they say Tehran will use to expand its proxy wars.

---

First Yemen, then Syria

---

“If the coalition is successful in Yemen, we will very likely see it entering Syria,” Mr. Alani says, referring to the Sunni alliance of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Egypt, and Kuwait.

---

Analysts say Riyadh will now put substantial resources and effort into its own diplomacy to expand its influence beyond the US and Europe – namely with Russia and China.

Saudis have the closest airfields and they have plenty of F-15’s.

Meanwhile the IDF has plenty of nukes.

Do we see some synergy here..?

I see plenty, and I think I know what’s going to happen.

And you know who REALLY will be responsible for all this, don’t you.

Don’t you.

May they all kill each other off, so we don’t have to.

John Kerry and Barack Obama will have the blood of millions on their hands.

I think you are letting your wishful emotions take over your reason... at least for the short term.

I have a standing bet that in the fullness of time the naiton of Ishmael will ally with the nation of Issac just for a little while. Can’t find it in the Bible but feel it will happen.

As long as Islam and Judaism are at odds, such a thing could not last forever. But it might have some interesting short term results.

Interesting that you mention this alliance.

In a future war with Iran, Russia, Turkey and others invading Israel, the Saudi’s are actually allied (or semi-allied) to Israel at the time of that invasion.

Ezekiel 38:13 mentions Arabia’s protests.

'The enemy of my enemy is my friend.' 'Friendship' between SA and Israel can only last as long as 'my' (SA's) enemy (Iran) remains a threat. Unless and until SA can root out the wahhabi sect and those like it, ANYTHING done in co-operation with Israel will have to be kept top secret.

Interesting that the Saudis are courting both the Chinese and the Soviets Russians, who are supporting and have supported the Iranians. What will Pootie do?

One of the difficult things about pinpointing prophesied events is that many have pre-echos. When things go wrong, they tend to go wrong in patterns that repeat.

Do the top Saudis value their own necks over their ideology... we shall see.

The Saudis have no intention of letting Iran get the bomb (suicide for Arabia and the gulf states, and Egypt).
They will take whatever steps they deem necessary....
