We all know the national parks are full of unfriendly white people, right?
The same reason our museums are!
It is the inherent micro aggression of nature to exert white privilege against minorities. Bears, coyotes, deer, wolves, jack-rabbits, elk, et al are all inherently racist.
Hey NYT staff, maybe the folks should get it to the Hamptons more often.

Why is white so horrible? I truly don’t care and don’t think about the amount of melanin in people’s skin at various national parks. I don’t think that ANY amount necessitates action. I do not believe national parks have a need for a certain low point of melanin. They are there for whoever wants to go, from anywhere in the world.
If you wouldn’t write an article, “Why are the parks in Los Angeles so Mexican on a Sunday afternoon?” Then don’t write this article either.
Nothing to loot in the great parks.
And hiking with your pants around your knees and $300 sneakers just doesn’t work.

The reason the parks are ‘so white’, is because they do not allow folks to reside in them long enough to have a stoop and a mailbox!

The parks were instituted long before the first race riot in Watts, by the OTHER President named Roosevelt. You know, the one that was a conservationist, hunter, military leader, and had balls, UNLIKE the mulatto queer-in-charge, today.
If the National Parks looked like MLK blvd, then all those Jack-Boot park rangers who happily enforced Obama’s Barry-cade policy would have a reason to be so well armed.
In many parts of the Northeast, you don't even see too many white people at state parks during the summer months. These places have become dominated by immigrants from Latin America and Asia.
Speaking of unfriendly landscapes with mucho mosquitoes and ferocious wild animules, they ought to get down on their knees and thank the slavecatchers for taking their ancestors out of Africa.
Maybe NPS can adapt some NASA Muslim outreach training material to get Negroes to visit. I’m sure NPS can find one black guy who did something of minor significance in the Pacific NW so they have a topic for Black History Month.
Maybe the real reason is that glaciers are white.

I guess that’s why when I go to a classical music performance in DC or any other “chocolate” city, there will typically as many (or more) blacks in the orchestra as in the audience.
On the other hand, there will typically be many Chinese and Koreans in both orchestra and audience. Go figure.
The same reason our beaches are clean and we don’t use them as the town dump.
