Jade Helm 15, heavily scrutinized military exercise, to open without media access

Jade Helm 15, the controversial Special Operations exercise that spawned a wave of conspiracy theories about a government takeover, will open next week without any media allowed to observe it, a military spokesman said.

Embedded reporters won’t be permitted at any point during the exercise, in which military officials say that secretive Special Operations troops will maneuver through private and publicly owned land in several southern states. Lt. Col. Mark Lastoria, a spokesman for Army Special Operations Command, said his organization is considering allowing a small number of journalists to view selected portions of the exercise later this summer, but nothing is finalized.

“All requests from the media for interviews and coverage of U.S. Army Special Operations Command personnel, organizations and events are assessed for feasibility and granted when and where possible,” Lastoria said in a statement released Wednesday to The Washington Post. “We are dedicated to communicating with the public, while balancing that against the application of operations security and other factors.”

The exercise is scheduled for July 15 through September 15 and is expected to include more than 1,200 troops. Army Special Operations Command announced the exercise in March, saying its size and scope would set it apart from most training exercises. For months, some protesters have said Jade Helm is setting the stage for future martial law. Those fears have been mocked by comedians such as Jon Stewart and others, and the U.S. military has tried to reassure people about the exercise.

The Army says the size and scope of Jade Helm 15, a Special Operations exercise that begins in July, set it apart from other training exercises. Also setting it apart: The widespread conspiracy theories that the U.S. is preparing to hatch martial law.

Still, I’d invest in some video equipment, and take plenty of before, during and after pictures.

Unless you’re A-OK with your stuff being ‘blowed up real good’ without compensation.

This is not your father’s America, or even the one you honorably served.

It would be preposterous, would it not, not exempt armed forces from defending a country from direct invasion. Posse Comitatus has to do with using armed forces as a means to quell the citizenry.

Might be interesting to follow that bunch around the countryside.

No telling what type of stuff they might misplace, displace, leave leaning on the latrine doors, drop out the back of the 5/4

Permission to be obtained from private landowners, and from state and local authorities.

http://www.soc.mil/UNS/Releases/2015/March/150324-03.html

RELEASE NUMBER: 150324-03
DATE POSTED: MARCH 24, 2015

PRESS RELEASE: Exercise readies SOF for threats abroad

FORT BRAGG, N.C. (USASOC News Service, March 24, 2015) - Members of U.S. Army Special Operations Command will train with other U.S Armed Forces units July 15 through Sept. 15 in a multi-state exercise called Jade Helm 15.

USASOC periodically conducts training exercises such as these to practice core special warfare tasks, which help protect the nation against foreign enemies. It is imperative that Special Operations Soldiers receive the best training, equipment and resources possible.

While multi-state training exercises such as these are not unique to the military, the size and scope of Jade Helm sets this one apart. To stay ahead of the environmental challenges faced overseas, Jade Helm will take place across seven states. However, Army Special Operations Forces (ARSOF) will only train in five states: Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Colorado. The diverse terrain in these states replicates areas Special Operations Soldiers regularly find themselves operating in overseas.

The training exercise will be conducted on private and public land with the permission of the private landowners, and from state and local authorities. In essence, all exercise activity will be taking place on pre-coordinated public and private lands.

The public can expect nothing much different from their day-to-day activities since much of exercise will be conducted in remote areas. The most noticeable effect the exercise may have on the local communities is an increase in vehicle and military air traffic and its associated noise. There will also be economic gain: an increase in the local economy, in fuel and food purchases and hotel lodging.

This exercise is routine training to maintain a high level of readiness for ARSOF since they must be ready to support potential missions anywhere in the world at a moment’s notice.

During this eight-week period, ARSOF soldiers will use this opportunity to further develop tactics, techniques and procedures for emerging concepts in Special Operations warfare.

USASOC intends to conduct the exercise safely and courteously while providing the best possible training available for the nation’s Army Special Operations Forces. State and local officials are being informed of the scope of Jade Helm and will continue to be updated as the exercise progresses.

I understand your concern, but will treat it for now as an exercise in the interest of national defense in an area of the country where we are already subject to foreign invasion.

Someone sent me an email that provided a link to an article written about Jade Helm in Texas. I have never seen so many nasty comments about stupid, ignorant, nutty Texans after an article before! I knew Texas had detractors but this was over the top.

On the map there are two areas highlighted in Texas do you have any idea exactly where the southern area is located?

The narrative is Southerners are all mouth breathin’ ‘bacca chewin’, one toothed, cousin marryin’, Bible thumpin’ gun totin’, noose tyin’ cross burnin’, meth smokin’ troglodytes.

Well, at least the best ones are...

Precisely why I advised Dusty Road to do his own before, during and after documentation.

I am 75 and i was born and raised in Houston Texas. Except for living a couple of years on the east coast I have been here. I can't tell you how many people who have told me the same story. “ when I was transferred to Texas, I thought my life was over and after a short while the thought of leaving was out of the question”

I know people who have quit their company when they tried to transfer them to some place else.

Hence the saying was born “ I wasn't born in Texas but I got here as fast as I could”.

No media access?

That seems peculiar to me.

Hell, they let Whorealdo draw troop movements in the sand on live teevee back in the day during a real operation.

What are they trying to hide?

Yeah. The narrative couldn’t be more wrong.

It’s driven by the same east coast liberals who passionately believe that the Clintons were the most ethical administration ever, and that obama is the most transparent administration ever!

I came achingly close to landing a job in Houston.

That was an exercise to be held in Goliad County but has been cancelled
according to info I’ve seen on the net.

snip
GOLIAD – The Goliad County Commissioners Court unanimously approved a request by the
U.S. Army Special Operations Command to conduct military exercises in the county
for month-long period in 2015.

“We are dedicated to communicating with the public, while balancing that against the application of operations security and other factors.”

First, they'll tell us whatever they feel will pass muster for the sheeple. Second, if they weren't doing anything questionable, they wouldn't need so much operations security and secrecy from the msm. Funny, the Obama admin has the msm eating out of their hands but the C in C doesn't trust them enough to let them in on the behind the scenes of JH. Curiouser and curiouser.
