Former New York Gov. George Pataki has launched a broadside against Donald Trump over his controversial remarks on Mexican immigrants, sending an open letter this week to every other Republican presidential candidate urging them to "denounce his comments today."

The letter has, in turn, triggered a bitter Twitter feud between the two 2016 candidates, as Trump also spars with everyone from NBC to Macy's to the New York City government.

After Pataki tweeted a link to the letter (in which he cc'd Trump), Trump thundered back on Twitter:

OK but Trumps statement is absurd since Trump himself has actually never been elected to anything. I wonder if he’s becoming senile.

What part of Trump's remarks were untrue or inaccurate?

-------------------------------------------------

Here is a five part plan that no Republican should have a problem with.

Do those things and illegal aliens will deport themselves and pay for the trip.

Trump is entertaining for sure! He may be good in business, he might be a tough negotiator regarding trade but outside of those things you have to wonder what informs his core values? Would he sell his granny down the river if it advanced his career or got him a new shiny hotel? He could turn out to be a libertarian president - with the emphasis on “lib”. He’s for abortion and some of his business deals involved him claiming bankruptcy to protect his money. He speaks his mind alright but that could easily play into the oppositions hands. Get him to speak often enough and on emotionally charged issues and maybe he’ll slip up badly in what he says. He hasn’t been real specific about what he would do and how he would do it. Better men are available. My $ is still on Cruz but I know America is too immoral to vote for him. Just my 2¢.

“...sending an open letter this week to every other Republican presidential candidate urging them to “denounce his comments today.”

Pataki the liberal wants to assert boldness attacking Trump and trying to be Mr. Big by seeking to maneuver the other candidates into twirling for him. I don’t think they will bite.

Does Pataki believe that illegal aliens don’t commit crimes then?

Will any of Trump’s critics be asked that????

There is a first time for everyone. At least Trump did not enter elective office poor and come out rich.

So was Obama...

This has precisely zero to do with what I said and it's probably not a good idea to remind us of the lack of experience of Obama for this case.

Pataki and Perry should be attacking Hillary instead of trying to divide the GOP.

He’s also forcing the other GOP candidates to take sides on this issue and the equally important issue of truthfulness, something that’s really vital. The only way we’ll beat the Witch is for our ultimate candidate to be hard and truthful about her and what she stands for, something Jebbie absolutely cannot do because the Clintons and Bushes have the ultimate political incestuous relationship. Trump must pound on that for the rest of the primary campaign.

Evidently it’s your take that Trump stated Pataki was never elected. He said he couldn’t get elected, and the implications of that would be going forward, not to birth as you seem to have interpreted it.

I don’t think anyone else without an axe to grind would interpret it as you did.

Once again, anyone can get elected under the right circumstances.

All one has to do is look at the insanity of Obama in the White House, and that cannot be denied.

We’ll see how far Pataki goes in the primary process.

The main problem i have with Trump, i mean other than the fact he is not really a conservative, He seem more like a pissed off semi-Reagan Democrat?, is he has never even been a dog catcher.

The statement was that Trump said Pataki “couldn’t be elected dog catcher” and that’s all it said. Seems crazy to me coming from a guy who himself has never been elected however Trump seems to have realized the absurdity and expanded on it.
