Seems like a good swap.

Last year at the local park there were more foreigners than locals I think. Although lots of Indians (East Indians) iirc.

FWIW, an observation

I was in Manhattan Tuesday, spent some time in Times Square area and up and down Fifth Ave. In all my trips to NYC, I have never observed such an absence of NYPD on the streets. I mean there no cops to be seen, and usually at Times Square, there are several pairs on duty.

At one point a mounted policeman crossed TSq and went down a cross street.

On departure through Grand Central Station there was a very large presence of military on duty in the Grand Concourse. [National Guard? I don't know] The only other security we saw there were the usual MTA personnel...the military weren't there when we arrived earlier in the day.

I pray these threats are overblown. A visit to the 9/11 Memorial Museum dredged up the horror and pain of that fateful day. Sobering. Not unlike a Holocost Memorial.

Cyanide poisoning can be counteracted with an IV of sodium thiosulfate. Commercial kits may start with some sodium nitrate IV. The 30-50 kits is a lot of kits vs the number of competent staff to administer concurrently. Clearly, 30 to 50 kits is inadequate if the affected population numbers 5,000. The kits are usually aimed at ingested cyanide, not inhaled cyanide gas.

Ruger LC-9 fits nicely in a pair of cargo shorts.

Speer Gold Dot 147 gr. HPs fit nicely in the aforementioned LC-9.

«....Hague said the 10-county area covered by his Homeland Security region last year obtained a federal grant to buy 30-50 of the cyanokits. Each kit,he said costs $650-$800. Most of the kits were distributed to hospitals in the region, but Hague kept four.” ...”

Interesting that they got anti-cyanide kits just the year before, he kept some, and then this train derails, carrying a cargo that when burns, produces cyanide...

From this: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3306914/posts

“.... “The train did not derail,” Dean Flener, spokesman for the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency, said Thursday. “One car had a broken axle that punctured the car and sparked the fire.” ....”

OK, first they said 3 cars derailed, now its one car with a broken axle.

???

LOL. That's actually my primary carry these days. I've been having a heck of a time getting spare mags though.

At over fifty dolalrs a piece, I was having trouble getting extra mags for my Bersa 9mm UC Pro, which is what I carry primarily. So I found inexpensive mags that would fit the gun and made a minor alteration to the mag latch opening so they hold in the gun. Tested them at the range and out of four, only one needed further adjustment to work flawlessly. It allows me to carry fifteen round extra mags which will feed my little thirteen and one tool.

The process involves finding out which frame the gun is based upon (as in Taurus makes an exact copy of the Beretta 92F, so I have altered Beretta 30 rounders to work perfectly in a Taurus 92AF), then find the after-market mags which are available at a fraction of the 'factory' mags, and line up the mag catch hole position and dremel it out.

To: Tolerance Sucks Rocks; Kartographer

I just returned from Arlington cemetery. Very busy place today. Family wanted to go to the Welcome Center.

There was a pile of luggage (8-10 wheeled cases) left against one wall...unattended. I started to mention that we needed to report it and was instead almost dragged from the building by the family group. They were equally concerned.

So much for “see something-say something”. The crowd today was very International Tourist looking and I ran along with them expecting a problem. I have heard of none.

I wonder if they are warned about our feelings...in their languages at airports etc.?????

I often wonder what one person can do. Following up on this might be something??

They're spendy, for sure. I have two spares, and would like to get more, but I get to thinking with a concealed sidearm, do I really need them?

Not necessarily to carry with you, but to rotate so the springs get a rest.
