(JTA) — American Jews are among the most supportive religious groups of same-sex marriage. Some 77 percent of American Jews expressed support for same-sex marriage, according to data gathered in 2014 by the Public Religion Research Institute. Some 47 percent of American Jews polled said they “strongly favor” allowing gay and lesbian couples to marry legally, and 30 percent said they “favor” it.

Sadly it is actually probably because of Hitler and past persecution. Jews tend to believe that an all powerful state will protect them. You won’t read this in most history books, but it was not difficult for Hitler to persuade people that Jews were associated with communists throughout Europe. Most of course weren’t, but a disproportionate number weighed against their overall population either were communists or, most often, sympathetic to that movement (or trade unions, democratic socialists, etc). Additionally there are a lot of secular Jews who are very politically active and almost always on the far left. It is no accident that you see so many Jews in groups like the ACLU and People For the American Way. Sadly it is those groups far more than Muslims, Hindu’s, etc, that are constantly trying to remove nativity scenes, etc.
I admire Israel and Israeli Jews for what they have achieved against all odds, but Jews outside of Israel are pretty overwhelmingly leftists and I don’t believe for one moment that Republicans are going to win that particular voting block. They will vote 75% or so for Hillary - maybe more if it is Bernie Sanders who gets the nod on the Democrat side.
evidently you have not read the polls on this subject. American jews are by a very large percent leftist, liberal, gun hating , even Israel hating people. So you are a small minority so good for you , now pull your shorts out of your crack and relax. Look up the percentage of Jews who support the Kenyan In the white Mosque. As far as Christians go they love Jews and Israel MORE than most American Jews do.
That is a CULT, not to be confused with anything vaguely authentically Jewish. My cat can call herself a rabbi; doesn't make it so. I'm SURE their magazine is "chock full of excellent articles"--on how to steal Jewish souls.

One does not need to go to the synagogue to live life based upon the teachings. It’s a choice not to.

It would be helpful for your understanding to understand the various “waves” of Jewish immigration to the USA.
Not all are the same, both religiously and from most recent country of origin.
The liberal wave you discuss (now the Deformed) was later overtaken by a more recent wave of Conservative and Orthodox Jews, largely from the Soviet Union. They understand liberalism very well.
And, perhaps out of Tribal forgiveness, I tend to give the earlier, misguided, Jews of the first wave a break, in that their choices in Europe were “Nationalism” (which was stridently anti-Semitic) or Communist/Socialist (which told pretty lies about such things and, above all, promised not to treat Jewish people badly if they were reliable servants of the State).
Not true at all, certainly not in recent years. Jews in Britain, Canada and (especially) Israel voted majority for conservative parties in their last national elections. (BRW, in each case, the more conservative party won the election.) This was reported in an article posted on FR about a month ago.
The major impetus for this is the realization that left wing governments have a tendency to pursue policies detrimental to Israel. If Jews in other nations have woken up it this salient fact, there is still some hope for American Jews.
Of course, no teaching in Judaism condones gay marriage, or homosexual activity; in fact, the Christian teaching about homosexuality comes from the Old Testament. Seems as if one of the reasons that ignorant leftist Jews support it is a myth spread by gay activists which asserts that homosexuals in Nazi Europe were treated like the Jews. This is flagrantly false. Deaths of homosexuals due to Nazi persecution were very rare in a percentagewise comparison to European Jews. We know that about two thirds of European Jewry was killed in the Holocaust, while only a tiny fraction of European homosexuals were. Hitler decreed that ALL Jews were to be exterminated, but he didn't say the same about homosexuals.

The liberal Jewish movements (Reform, Conservative, Reconstructionist) are predominantly run by gays & feminists. I would wager that those are the only ones left, besides some intermarried couples, most of whose children are not even Jewish according to Jewish law. Nowadays many intermarried couples simply leave Judaism altogether, as they are not only uninterested but hostile toward organized religion. In the end the gays, as well, will also abandon the liberal Jewish movements, given their lack of substance & the very nature of liberalism: everyone is doing his own thing.
In a sense, the gays (& feminists) have won the battle but lost the war.

You must mean that one can be born into an Orthodox Jewish family, learn the myriad laws and traditions by observance, and then..... actually, your comment doesn’t work at all. Once the robo-Jew steps out of his or her home and has to interact with the world in a Jewish way, where does he turn? A Jew turns to a rabbi or a book. Is it not true?
For the longest time, when it comes to “conservative” and “reform” Jews, voting democrat is more sacrosanct than Bar Mitzvahs and circumcisions. My beloved parents were Dems, but they switched parties around the same time Pres Reagan did, and for the same reason, they didn’t leave the party, the party left them.
The same thing is going on with conservative Christians, it’s just that there aren’t many of us in Hollywood, but boy, have a white person commit a massacre and the media are bound to call them Christian.
American Jewry is different in that they are far more ASSIMILATED with the rest of an increasingly Liberal society.
Israelis in Israel can tell you that 90% of them would have voted for McCain and then Romney because it was apparent FROM THE OUTSET that Obama would distance himself from America's ONLY STABLE, RELIABLE, DEMOCRATIC, FREE, LIBERAL society in the entire region.
Israeli Jews are REALISTS who do not engage in Liberal fantasies because if they did, they would be dead.
American Jews have the luxury to drift into every humanitarian cause known to man and dog. From Save the LGTBT whales to Rights for Paleostinians to kill their brothers in Israel, (you name it, they champion it). Jews are at the forefront for “rights”, “liberation” and even “revolution” because long before the Kenyan called for “CHANGE”, the Jews always championed CHANGE in order to improve their position in the world and to improve others’ position in the world too, (i.e., Black Civil Rights Movement).
They are safe in their comfort zone with plenty of “padding” to protect them from the nasty realities of life or at least the threats their brothers and sisters have in Israel.
This enables them to vote twice for a Muslim-Kenyan seeking to destroy Israel and most of America's allies.
The Kenyan is destroying the fabric of American society and only a few Jews managed to wake up. Why is that?
The answer is that, the Jews, or at least many of them, suffer from Terminal Hemrroidial Liberalism, and nothing seems to be able to move them from the illogical stance that, ultimately will backfire on them too.
It makes no sense unless you look at how far away they have moved from the Torah and G-d’s Law. The more ignorant, the more assimilated, the greater the chance that they will champion any form of the new G-d, JUSTICE. Justice is the new Torah and they (the ignorant Jews) believe in Justice for droopy eared Beagle dogs, the Rights of Whales to beach themselves or self-determination for squirrels. These dumb Jews apply justice to everything and everybody, EXCEPT their fellow Jews in Israel. This same zeal for justice used to be applied to Torah and Judaism, not anymore. Jews who embrace tradition believe in Justice for Torah, the Land of Israel and the People of Israel. Pseudo-Justice is a sham and the ACLU knows it. Never have so many Jews been so out of touch with who and what they are. This leads to betrayal and even, Jewish Antisemitism, (now disguised as anti-Zionism).

A fellow Jew who didn’t forget that we have a duty to be a light unto the nations and am sick that the situation - but understand that 90% of our brethren know nothing of our heritage.
