Gov. John Kasich on Gay Marriage: ‘The Court Has Ruled, and It’s Time to Move On’
Mediaite ^ | 06/29/2015 | by Josh Feldman

Lots of Republican candidates are really up in arms about the Supreme Court’s gay marriage ruling, and some are trying to fight back strongly against it. Mike Huckabee said states should outright reject it, while Ted Cruz proposed Supreme Court elections to push back against “judicial tyranny.”

But on Face the Nation today, likely GOP candidate and Ohio Governor John Kasich told John Dickerson, “I believe in traditional marriage, but the Supreme Court has ruled, it’s the law of the land, and we’ll abide by it.”

He implored people to just “take a deep breath,” and said there are plenty of other issues conservatives should be more focused on, like jobs, national defense, and “healing the division between races.”

Dickerson told him he sounds like he’s trying to avoid the question, but Kasich insisted, “I do believe in traditional marriage, but the court has ruled, and it’s time to move on.”

With so many of our so-called "conservatives" willing to give up the fight and simply lay down and die... I cannot help but wonder if this Republic can be saved...

Would he have said the same of the Dred Scott decision?

I am not ruled by five corrupt, power abusing disgraceful political activists, John.

I will move on from you and everyone like you.

Kasich shouldn’t bother to declare for the Presidency with this attitude.

It’s time for Ohio to move on from John Kasich.

Are they sure he didn’t say “Take a deep breath and choke on it”?

"Time to Move on" is the catch phrase for the establishment.

If your rep says this, that's all you need to know about that person.

Yes, it's time. Time to move on and vote the bastard out!

What the hell happened to Kasich? He’s essentially gone the way of Paul Ryan, it seems to me.

Does he really think this way or does he allow Karl to do his thinking for him?

He wants to get back to his graft and corruption for the benefit of his cronies. These social conservatives are a distraction from that.

I can see the governor's point, although I don't like it. There's no higher court in the land, which means that the only way this will be reversed would be for the SCOTUS to make a future ruling that reverses or strikes down the present one. At some point a future court may take up a case that causes them to do so, but IMO that won't happen until they stick their finger in the air and reassess what the political fallout of such a reversal would be.

“Move on”?

I guess he thinks us bible believing Christians should just docilely report to the nearest train station for “processing”.

He’s doing a good job as Governor in Ohio. He’s just the wrong guy for the job of President.

Hey John, are you stupid enough to think it all ends here and they are going to let you “move on.”

This is only the beginning you foolish man. Inductries and careers have been established promoting Homo Activism. Do you think those “Activists” are going to retire from their cushy no show jobs and close shop at their tax payer funded “institutions” and “Foundations.”

Sorry Johnny Boy you are a relic of the loser mentaility that got us to this point. You are functionally illiterate as to what the Culture Wars is all about.

He's in 13th place out of fifteen candidates listed on RCP poll average, with 1.6% - just below Carly Fiorina at 2% and ahead of Lindsey Graham with 1.2%.

Jindal is in last place, with 1.0%.
