This whole week, Ive been reflecting on this idea of grace, said President Obama today, just before he broke into song at the funeral for South Carolina State Sen. Clementa Pinckney, a pastor killed along with eight others in last weeks Charleston, S.C., church shooting. The song Obama sang, of course, was Amazing Grace.
Obama isnt the first president to speak about the concept of grace. One of my favorite quotes about grace is by John F. Kennedy, who said, I look forward to an America which will not be afraid of grace and beauty. But this was an exceptional moment, when a president spoke at length about something so tender, so ephemeral and so difficult to describe that we dont ever talk much about it. Obama chose this occasion for a surprisingly profound exploration of what grace means here, today, and for all of us.
We all come to the word grace with different perceptions. But whether we think of divine love, or easy, elegant movement, or gentle and welcoming behavior, at the root of these ideas is a sense of joyous giving a giving of oneself to something greater. In his eulogy, Obama directed us to the graceful generosity that characterized Pinckneys life...

That has happened in every country taken over by a tyrant .
I know that some media types are reading the Free Republic. If so they should take what I have said to heart.
He’s a hypocrite. He’s not Christian.
This was complete manipulation of the audience, and they fell for it.
What a circus he turned it into.
I never said he deceived you. He did however, deceive millions.
I agree. It is amazing though, seeing this happen before our eyes. An evil man preaching and leading Clergy & Laity in worship!? I am surprised he did not begin laying hands on people and healing them in HIS name!! Perhaps this is coming next...
A very thoughtful post Jan_S....Having heard this man sing once before and now his Amazing Grace, one thing is clear. His voice is a long shot better than his leadership.
Wouldn’t the AntiChrist seem less threatening if he seemed bunbling and incompetent?
All I know is this verse keeps reurfacing everytime 0 accomplishes another evil objective against The People:
Revelation 13:4
And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?
Just imagine if Bush . . . just imagine.
In the Strongs dictionary, “anti” definitely means “opposing” rather than a counterfeit. And 1 John 2:18 still speaks of “many antichrists”.
And the “Therion” (Beast) is to come from an empire (associated with the same name) that was around in Christ’s day.
Like I said to Faithhopecharity, I do not really think he is THE antichrist, it is amazing seeing this happen before our eyes. An evil man preaching and leading Christian Clergy & Laity in worship!? I am surprised he did not begin laying hands on people and healing them in HIS name!! Perhaps this is coming next...
Lucy gets all the huzzahs, but Desi’s comic timing was occasionally just unreal!

Oh, that Ricky clip is AWESOME! I’m sooooooo stealing that, LOL!
John Newton, who wrote Amazing Grace, was once a slave trader. Baraq shouldn’t have been singing that song, he should have calling for it to be banned.
That’s another thing that indicates that Obama isn’t the “Beast”, besides being of the wrong political entitytaking away the military instead of building it up.
Disagree!
G-D America, land that I hate...
Stand to change it, and transform it...
I have no idea if L4B could be the antichrist. I am convinced I won’t be around to see the man of sin emerge, the lawlessness unleashed (1Thess4:13-18; 2Thess2:2-6; Icor15:51-53; John 14:1-3)
I am surprised that lightning didn’t strike the church with that demon in the pulpit.
God really is long suffering.
Great screen name, Jan.
Why?
The USA was not around in Christ’s day. Rome (the European empire) was. Also, the foundations of the USA are not of the foundations of the Babylonish system.
