Here’s a video of the explosion of the unmanned Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon capsule:

Here

UPDATE: The SpaceX rocket seems to have broken apart entirely in what looks like a major mission failure. During the feed, the rocket start smoking and then appeared to come apart altogether about a minute or more into launch. The resupply mission was thankfully unmanned.

The biggest hurdle to space exploration seems to be supply chain quality.

America just can’t get the quality it needs.

Looked like explosion inside the cargo fairing, followed by lots of venting from the cargo area, followed by a self-destruct signal that blew the first and second stages.

Yeah, but it sure can get a lot of high-quality pictures of Kim Kardashian out on the internet. Oh yeah.

They could have done this in India for 1/15th of the cost.

Yes, it looks like the failure is near the nose of the rocket; the engines can be seen continuing to fire for a few seconds. Also, it doesn’t really look like an explosion at first, maybe a structural failure followed by an explosion?

If it is an engine problem, then the fix could be on long and costly one. If it is something simpler, then the fix should be done rather quickly. My guess is that it will be the later. However, I can’t help but think that this will slow the qualification process of the manned version of their Dragon spacecraft.

NASA spends a lot more of its money on Globull Warming research now.

So Spacex blows up.

The Falcon 9/Dragon doesn’t have a third stage. The Dragon capsule doesn’t have a booster to propel it away from the second stage at staging, just it’s onboard thrusters.

I also saw upthread that this was a blow to ‘Muslim self-esteem’, supposing that NASA was doing this. No...SpaceX ISN’T NASA. If anything, it’s a blow to the ego of one Elon Musk.

We could have done it right here at a 15th the cost as well. With better talent. But as with every issue in America, liberalism again blows stuff up real good.

Except the explosives industry. Which would, under liberalism, fail to achieve ignition of all products designed to ignite.

I could have built them a rocket that blows up, and for a lot less.

Well, something popped near the top of the stack.

Wondering if it was the Dragon’s propellant tanks.....

Well...hopefully, the folks in Hawthorne can go over the telemetry and figure out what happened.
