Here’s a video of the explosion of the unmanned Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon capsule:

Here

UPDATE: The SpaceX rocket seems to have broken apart entirely in what looks like a major mission failure. During the feed, the rocket start smoking and then appeared to come apart altogether about a minute or more into launch. The resupply mission was thankfully unmanned.

Symbolic of things to come for a nation in its last days.

Hell of a cap to a terrible week for America.

Well put.

Symbolism galore these days.

Some of it is just symbolic, of course.

So much for crony capitalism in space...

Of course, NASA was an even larger crony system......

Do they have a self-destruct?
Maybe they lost control of the trajectory & blew it?

The mission’s primary objective was to deliver the Dragon to the space station with more than two and a half tons of supplies, equipment and experiments — ranging from a new docking adapter for accommodating future U.S.-built spaceships to a virtual-reality headset for the station’s crew.

The 9 engines appeared to be running properly even well after the vehicle first started showing signs of trouble. The problem seemed to be associated with the upper stage or perhaps the fairing. A wild guess would be that the upper stage oxidizer tank ruptured, leading to the rocket coming apart.

Now that you mention it, the point of ignition did look a bit far from the engine.

Matter of fact it looked something inside the cargo fairing blowed up real good.

Doesn't mean they didn't terminate the flight with the big red button.

I'm thinking third-stage motor, but who knows.

Another notch in the old belt for the ISS occupants.
