Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), a 2016 presidential hopeful, says GOP leaders want to divide conservative primary voters so that a moderate candidate will end up being the partys nominee.
"The last thing the Republican leaders in Washington want to see is millions of Americans across the country mobilizing and coalescing around one strong conservative candidate," he told a crowd of 200 supporters in Iowa on Saturday, according to the Sioux City Journal.
Senior Republicans want the partys various factions at each others throats so "once again, they run right up the middle with 24 percent and nominate an establishment moderate who loses the election to Hillary Clinton," Cruz added.
"Here's what the Washington cartel wants they want us divided," he told voters in the state that holds of the first contests in the nominating process.
"They will do everything possible to fragment us and pit us against each other because if we come together, it's game over," he added. "The cartel only knows one thing how to extort power and money to get what it wants, and if I were elected president, it will stop." A Fox News poll released earlier this week found Cruz near tail end of support among the crowded Republican White House field.
The Texas lawmaker garnered just 4 percent support, well behind former

I don’t think he likes smart ass college boys.
Cruz is the sharpest I have seen in my 52.
That is because Ted Cruz intimidates the stew out of Mr. Lump. Intellectual brilliance and strong principles do that to some folks.
He is blowing his own horn. Real leaders do not have to do that. Others do it for them. You obviously missed out on being around a leader.
Who do you support, Lumper?
I do not like arrogant toot your own horn types who have never owned a business, never commanded any unit, and one who is basically nothing more then a lawyer like the SCOTUS types. Jindal speaks from experience experience. I respect that.
Exactly. I see him just like those who met him in college and I am seeing what they said and saw. That does bothers me.
> “He is blowing his own horn.”
False.
> “Real leaders do not have to do that. Others do it for them.”
Millions are doing it for him. You see it everyday here on FR. Texas’ most influential Conservative politician endorsed him.
> “You obviously missed out on being around a leader.”
False.
Any other ‘complaints’?
What a few disgruntled students said about Ted Cruz is irrelevant. He was way ahead of them. They can complain all they want; they will never make history like the outlier that is Ted Cruz. They will be forgotten or never known to begin with; Ted will be remembered.
What his law professors say about him is what’s important. They say he was off the wall brilliant. They are tooting his horn for him.
Progressives hated Churchill, Reagan, Thatcher, Kirpatrick and so on. They all made up crap to throw at them and none of it stuck.
And your ‘complaining’ does not stick here with anyone. Why don’t you go to the Huffington Post blog where there are lots of homosexuals that match your sentiments?
There are not millions on FR. Trump gave him the max contribution 5K not long ago. I prefer Jindal, Trump, Walker, and Carson. No way for Bush or Rubio.
Your 52 years..Ted Cruz is the smartest ?
I’ll raise you 20
HE IS THE SMARTEST I’VE SEEN IN MY 72 YEARS...
AND I’VE TOLD THE GOP TO TAKE A JUMP OR MAYBE I SAID A DUMP...OR WELL..WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE!!!
(WINK~WINK)
Law professors are not important at all. They are a national disgrace now. We just had SCOTUS make us Sodom and Gemorrah. F lawyers. We need a real leader. NOT A LAWYER. Get your head out of the sand.
this is why they paid all these dead enders to be in the primary to clear the way for “moderate” jbush.
There are plenty of pretender and fake candidates out there like 2008 and 2012 to help the GOPe’s anointed one win.
Cruz is better than the lot. If it were not for Cruz, then who in your opinion? What if a “true leader” doesn’t run? Are you going to stay home?
Law professors are refugees from the real world.
they could not take real life.
You sound like a “Paulbot”
I never have. No way will I let Hilliary get in without a mark against her.
You clowns with your labels. I have been a Republican many years and have voted since 1968.Both sides of my family were in the country before the Revolutionary War. I have a CAR card still. Do you want a label?
Agree.
