...But Cruz was skeptical that his opponents were committed to stopping same-sex nuptials.
"As much as there were crocodile tears shed in Washington yesterday on Obamacare, there were even bigger crocodile tears shed in Washington today on marriage," Cruz said.
That is a contrast Cruz made sure to highlight to nearly every voter he met in the Hawkeye State. The script at Dutch Bakery here was workmanlike: Shake the hand. Share outrage at the decision. Ridicule Republicans' public statements. Blast them for "popping champagne." Shake a new hand. (edit)
"I fully expect the drive for an Article V convention to get new energy and new steam," Cruz said in Sheldon when a voter asked whether he would back it.
By the end of the day, Cruz was bringing it up himself -- though always stopping just short of saying he would support the call for a convention. In a column posted on the National Review's website late Friday, Cruz was not only floating the convention idea but proposing his own amendment: judicial retention elections every eight years for Supreme Court justices.
"When they violate the constitutional amendment and the law, the American people can remove them," Cruz said to his loudest applause of the evening in Pierson. "We are not governed by a judicial priesthood. We are not governed by judicial tyranny."
But Cruz reserved his toughest talk for the head of that tyranny: Roberts, a justice who dissented with the Court's decision on Friday but who the day before voted with the Court's liberal wing to uphold Obamacare subsidies.
"His decision yesterday and his decision a couple of years ago violated his oath of office," Cruz said. "He knows full well that he's changing the law and not following it."

LOL...
Yes, I am really, REALLY, a SoCon because I don’t use profanity.
Wow, you really are full of crap, aren’t you?
My candidate?
Draft Sessions.
I also made one more Donation to Ted Cruz. So far he is the one that I think can win for us!!!
yes, that’s right, a genuine social conservative wouldn’t post the “f” word on a public site, where kids and people with a sense of decency visit. Obviously that’s not the only quality that should characterize a social conservative, but it’s one of them
LOL...
Cop out. Who are you supporting that is really running?
BTW, you do know that Sessions voted for CAFTA, right?
Oh, you didn’t? go figure...
Well, we just disagree. I think Ted Cruz is absolutely sincere in his faith and I agree with him on the issues.
With all due respect, pretty weak gruel.
<p.
And totally speculation.
Kids visit this site often? AGain, like your attack on Cruz, care to prove it?
I will use the F word when talking about you...
FRAUD. there, happy?
my kids do
“The Stars are aligning for Ted Cruz... a man of Destiny. “
This may be the issue that awakens the sleeping Giant of Christian Conservatives.
You know very well that it was anything but clear that TPA would pass the second time around in the Senate. It passed with a bare minimum of sixty and McConnell had only one spare vote, which he shifted around to give cover to two Senators. Cruz's "Nay" posed considerable risk to the GOPe. Also, you know that the timeline supports Cruz's narrative: WSJ Co-op-ed with Ryan April 22nd, first Senate vote May 22nd and Wikileaks release June 3rd.
The anti-Cruz poster on this thread is the "opportunistic phony", posing as the paragon of propriety, not Sen. Cruz.
Did you read it?
Are you just running that mouth?
It`s called supporting your argument, otherwise its little more than an ad hominem attack and not reasoned treatise of actions.
In my opinion, the republicRats have stabbed Conservatives in the back TOO many times and IF he`s just another poser, I WANT TO KNOW!!!
BUT IF there is ANY evidence to the contrary, we do have to know. I`m a bit to long in the tooth here to engage in hero worship.
And as far as your statement on ‘American pride’, I hear ya!
I share your view of Cruz and belief that he is a man called for such a time as this.
My husband, who is very hard to impress, really has a high opinion of Cruz. He spent 41 years in federal law enforcement and is an excellent judge of character.
I think it would be wonderful if Cruz led us for two terms as President and then was appointed to the Supreme Court. There is nothing that says that is not possible. His brilliant legal mind is not something that needs to be wasted.
Our military seems to really be supporting Cruz as well. I have a lot of contacts from when my son served and also from the military training camp located in the community where I worked.
Thank you for your post and for sharing your thoughts.
I was doing searches three days in advance of Cruz exposing the back door shenanigans on the Trade Authority. I supported a clean TPA Bill, although I do not trust Obama. I wanted that authority for the next President, who will not be HRC.
I smelled a rat, so it came as no surprise to me that Cruz came out in opposition.
