...But Cruz was skeptical that his opponents were committed to stopping same-sex nuptials.
"As much as there were crocodile tears shed in Washington yesterday on Obamacare, there were even bigger crocodile tears shed in Washington today on marriage," Cruz said.
That is a contrast Cruz made sure to highlight to nearly every voter he met in the Hawkeye State. The script at Dutch Bakery here was workmanlike: Shake the hand. Share outrage at the decision. Ridicule Republicans' public statements. Blast them for "popping champagne." Shake a new hand. (edit)
"I fully expect the drive for an Article V convention to get new energy and new steam," Cruz said in Sheldon when a voter asked whether he would back it.
By the end of the day, Cruz was bringing it up himself -- though always stopping just short of saying he would support the call for a convention. In a column posted on the National Review's website late Friday, Cruz was not only floating the convention idea but proposing his own amendment: judicial retention elections every eight years for Supreme Court justices.
"When they violate the constitutional amendment and the law, the American people can remove them," Cruz said to his loudest applause of the evening in Pierson. "We are not governed by a judicial priesthood. We are not governed by judicial tyranny."
But Cruz reserved his toughest talk for the head of that tyranny: Roberts, a justice who dissented with the Court's decision on Friday but who the day before voted with the Court's liberal wing to uphold Obamacare subsidies.
"His decision yesterday and his decision a couple of years ago violated his oath of office," Cruz said. "He knows full well that he's changing the law and not following it."

I’m one social conservative who can’t support Cruz because I view him as phony. My credibility as a social conservative is shown by the fact I’ve never used profanity on FR and would never even consider doing so.
Got it all figured out, haven't you.
I may be taking an involuntary posting break...
Some things just need to be said.
Got is all figured out
No, just recounting what happened. Doesn’t take any “figuring out,” when the facts are the facts.
His was not a personal attack against you, but a commentary on the recent trade betrayal by the party of betrayers.
IF he knows something about some collusion by Cruz, in that one of an interminably long line of betrayals, then he needs to elaborate further. Cursing him out is nothing more than a childish act of anger.
Honest question: why?
Please elaborate further, cite evidence and I at least will listen.
WHAT DID HE DO?
It appears your unharnessed comment means there will be no dissension from who you happen to personally approve of.
Btw, speaking of outrage, I’m not seeing that level of personal outrage from supporters of other candidates, except maybe Hillary Clinton’s camp.
Cruz may not be perfect but he was upfront about his position the whole way through the process and didn’t seek to hide anything. You and I may have disagreed with him on that issue but that doesn’t make him a phony. If you are too much of a purist to support Cruz then I can think of no other politician in America today that you could support.
It wasn’t a game— he got exactly what he intended.
He’s for free trade— he wanted fast track for HIS Presidency.
As you indicated, fast track was going to pass w/o his vote. If his were the deciding vote, I’m sure he would have voted FOR it. His vote wasn’t needed. Thus, Cruz got fast track for HIS Presidency.
Having secured fast track, he then went into opposition mode—he voted no- and will continue to vote no, as to any trade bill from this administration.
Are there any other examples of this kind of behavior you can cite, and do you have a record of the vote in question?
I believe Kennedy should be impeached. I’m not joking or exaggerating. Has Cruz called for that? I don’t think so. All these other no-win responses amount to hot air, imo.
Valid point, but if he has other evidence of such past actions, I still say we need to know.
LOL yes they do.
are there any other examples?
Your question reminds me of, “Besides that, Mrs Lincoln, was your evening at the theater all that bad?”
see post 15
LOL.
Ok, Wiliam, so who is your candidate?
And, I guess his record in the Senate backs up the phony assertion, huh?
see post 15
geez, ...i’ll take that under advisement.
If I’m curt with you it’s because time is a factor. I think fast, I talk fast and I need you to act fast if you wanna get out of this. So, pretty please...with sugar on top. Get behind Ted Cruz.
