Donald Trump says if he's elected president, he'd let undocumented workers who are productive stay in the United States, but if they just sponge off the system and don't contribute ... he'd have them deported.
Trump tells TMZ, he'd create a "system of merit," saying people here illegally should have "a road to legal status" if they work hard and contribute to the country.
Trump also says no one really knows how many people are in the U.S. illegally -- he cites different stats that show the figure is somewhere between 11 and 30 million. Trumps says it's unrealistic and inhumane to attempt to deport all of them. Thus, the merit system. He says many undocumented workers are "hardworking people" who deserve a chance to live the American dream.
The candidate was not specific about the criteria for being "productive," but he was specific that people who don't pay their freight over a period of time have no place here.

I agree. I think he on to it as we have a lot of lazy folks now. My wife’s kids are in their 30’s. Her son is on heroin. The daughter is two years older and she just got out of rehab. Sad. I can only pray. Neither can come in the house as they will steal.
Better yet, cut off ALL unearned freebies to everyone. You paid into SS and Medi-scam, so they would continue. Make the indigent do something, anything, to EARN their keep. But documentation is required for that opportunity.

No Trump is not an amnesty supporter. Nobody running for President is going to even attempt to deport 11-30 million illegals. The best that will happen is we will secure the border and get rid of as many of the worst ones as possible. That is what Trump and Cruz want to do.
All the rest of the candidates will do nothing to secure the border and will let all of them stay. So you need to base your choice on that sure knowledge.
Trump damn sure is no Liberal. Take a real look at his contributions of size not a few hundred here and there.
He's given way more to Democrats. I think he gave the most to Hillary Clinton.
Look up his republican contributions.
This sounds similar to Newt's plan in 2012 to set up something similar to local draft boards and let local communities decide who merits legal status. All nonsense. Trump hurt himself with this.
Enforce the law internally and enforce the border. Deport illegals who come in contact with law enforcement and the problem will become smaller and smaller with self-deportation and laws that are enforced.

He said Bill Clinton is the best president last week. He said Hillary is not corrupt.
Trump gave more to Rupublicans.
