Donald Trump says if he's elected president, he'd let undocumented workers who are productive stay in the United States, but if they just sponge off the system and don't contribute ... he'd have them deported.
Trump tells TMZ, he'd create a "system of merit," saying people here illegally should have "a road to legal status" if they work hard and contribute to the country.
Trump also says no one really knows how many people are in the U.S. illegally -- he cites different stats that show the figure is somewhere between 11 and 30 million. Trumps says it's unrealistic and inhumane to attempt to deport all of them. Thus, the merit system. He says many undocumented workers are "hardworking people" who deserve a chance to live the American dream.
The candidate was not specific about the criteria for being "productive," but he was specific that people who don't pay their freight over a period of time have no place here.

Wish Ted would run.
I believe what Trump is saying is the portion of illegal immigrants who are already in America, who have jobs here and work every day, deserve a shot at the American dream.
It will be difficult to round them all up, and since they’re working it won’t be disruptive to let that portion stay.
Now those who are here mooching off the system, out. Every one of them. But if they’re here working, let them stay.
The important thing is, seal the border at the same time.
Seal the border, and start bringing back American jobs, to America. Then the problem will stop getting worse. America will start growing once again, and everyone else will stop taking what belongs to America.
The critical parts however are two: First off, deport everyone who isn’t working. Then seal the borders. Those who are here now working are not a detriment, and we shouldn’t chase them off.
Perhaps most critical (which Trump is also talking about) is stop exporting American jobs. Bring jobs back to the US.
This is just my .02.
So does that mean that I can live in Trump’s basement *only* if I promise to keep it tidy?
The important thing is, seal the border at the same time.
FIRST STEP!
When you reward something, you get more of it. Trump is an amnesty supporter—and a fool.
Trump is also talking about bringing back jobs, and sealing our borders.
Nobody else is saying a single word about either.
Trump deserves our attention, big time. Whether we should support him is a matter of personal opinion, but we have been selling out American jobs now for an entire generation. Administration, after administration.
It is time to start building America back up.
How we do that is open to debate, but I’m pretty sure we’re doing it exactly backwards at the moment.
Big time.
Well Trump’s plan beats Mitt Walker who will never secure the border or build a fence and he will let all of them stay.
At this point I’d be happy just to deport the parasites sucking on our welfare system. That would get rid of a lot of them.
Once word gets out that a crackdown is coming a lot of illegals will self deport.
yep, the big fizzle.
What if they work but don’t necessarily work ‘hard’? Who decides if their work is hard enough? This is quite a stupid statement on many levels.
And Trump has a history of supporting socialized medicine. A history of supporting gay marriage. A history of supporting gun control. A history of bragging about his own crony capitalism.
None of that matters because of his valiant fight against.....Univision. LOL
Few seem to arrive at a sensible middle ground: no one is rounded up, but start enforcing the law, particularly at the employer level, and whenever an illegal comes in contact with law enforcement they are turned over to ICE and ICE actually does its job and starts deportation procedures.
There would gradually be fewer and fewer illegals due to self-deportation and deporting those who come in contact with law enforcement.
You sound like someone I should get to know...
LOL
The man was on a roll but screwed it all up.
Is there anybody advocating deportation? The Supreme Court is not the only one not following the law.
Of course Mitt Walker pines for the Patriot Act to come back, is on record being for amnesty before he was against it and urged every member of Congress to vote yes on TPA.
And that’s not even getting into Walker’s ethically challenged WEDC program which I suspect is making it problematic for him to announce his candidacy. No doubt he is waiting for the other shoe to drop on that one.
Nobody mentioned Walker. If your own candidate is too pathetic to stand on his own, you should just stay home.
“Trump tells TMZ, he’d create a “system of merit,” saying people here illegally should have “a road to legal status” if they work hard and contribute to the country.”
A road to legal status is amnesty. A “system of merit” is unworkable. What is the qualifying “merit” — They have taken an American’s job?
He said those who have broke the law are gone. He is also against those living off the welfare state. Lets see what others say. It is a start. Yes, I would prefer they all be sent home, but;—— where do you find white boys who will tear off shingles, haul them up a ladder and work on the roof in the hot sun all day? That is the real problem-lazy ass white men who refuse to work.
Its sad when the candidate you are pimping night and day, Mitt Walker has so many flaws that you have to go to another candidate’s site and try to make them look bad for things that are not as extreme as your own candidate.
Well actually Trump is an announced candidate and Walker is well we don’t know yet since he refuses to announce his candidacy. Maybe he’s trying to finish up his college degree first so he won’t be the only candidate on the debate stage without one.
