It's Official -- Bernie Sanders Has Overtaken Hillary Clinton In the Hearts and Minds of Democrats
Huffington Post ^ | June 25, 2015 | H. A. Goodman

Posted on 06/25/2015 2:38:09 PM PDT by Rennes Templar

According to PBS, Bernie Sanders is "gaining against Clinton in early polls." Salon's Bill Curry believes "Hillary Clinton is going lose," primarily because millions of voters longing for a truly progressive candidate will nominate Sanders. POLITICO explained recently that Early-state polls hint at a Bernie Sanders surge, a headline that was unthinkable only several months earlier. Yahoo's Meredith Shiner calls Sanders a "progressive social media star and pragmatic legislator" and states that "Sanders also has a much more substantial legislative history" than any GOP challenger. In Iowa, 1,100 people packed a gym to hear Bernie Sanders speak in May.

In contrast, Team Hillary had an intimate business roundtable discussion with five "ordinary" Iowans. The only problem was that according to The Washington Post, "All five were selected to attend her events." In fact, Clinton's "staged roundtables" were attended by a total of 13 Iowans, picked by either the campaign or the host.

Therefore, a paradigm shift has taken place. Many Iowans drove 50 miles to hear Sanders speak in Des Moines, primarily because Bernie Sanders has surpassed Clinton as the ideal choice for Democratic nominee. Regarding electability, Sanders has also surpassed Clinton as the realistic choice for Democratic nominee in the minds of many voters, because as one Salon piece illustrates, Hillary "just doesn't get it."

fter leaving Congress, McGovern bought a Connecticut inn. He failed to make it work. He wrote in The Wall Street Journal, “In retrospect, I wish I had known more about the hazards and difficulties of such a business ...

he was stung by having to rebuild the inn to accommodate wheelchairs etc. spent $10M in government required renovations i believe.

There are no Ultra-Libs. When they reach that point in their ideological position, they have become hardcore Marxists, and for some in Congress, Communists (as in covert members but open supporters of the Communist Party USA and its fronts - Conyers, Barbara Lee, Danny Davis- or supporters of the larger Marxist “Democratic Socialists of America” (much of the Progressive Congressional Caucus).

Sanders is a Marxist-lite but perhaps the most honest of the reds in politics. Hillary is a covert Marxist and the greatest liar of them all, except for Comrade Iman Obama (not only is he two-faced, but he is of two-ideologies, but all targeting America for destruction).

Bernie seems a sincere person but obviously most of his politics is off the rail. If I were forced to choose, I’d take Bernie over Hillary if only because Hillary is such an immense liar and crook. It sure would be nice if the D’s could come up with more of a recognizably-D candidate instead of communists-in-drag

This Nation, in many regions, has dramatically drifted into hardcore state sponsored collectivist.

Bernie Sanders unlike many liberals is not obsessed with stealing our guns and freedoms. His primary interest seems to be reigning in the oligarchs and global corporations. Just the opposite of Hillary.

I’m a WASP. My culture and heritage representing the majority in America have been banned from a seat at the table of supreme court justice. No democracy for us and we are supposed to bend over and accept the obvious slight?

Yes. It's worked for the kleptocrats so far.

I’m wondering now if Elizabeth Warren is kicking herself a bit for not running? Warren would almost surely draw the same folks that Sanders is pulling, and would, IMHO, be a far more formidable candidate in the general than Sanders. I’m glad she’s not running, but I’m just sayin’.

Bernie and Hillary think the same way. The relevant difference is that Bernie is honest. He calls himself a Socialist. Hillary is just as much a Socialist, but would never publicly admit it. The Democratic primary voters know this, they just want some damn honesty. Hillary is untrustworthy. Bernie Sanders is a Socialist the Democratic primary voters can trust. That’s why he is surging. It’s also why he would be smashed in the general election. Of course, if Bernie keeps surging, Hillary may just Vince Foster him. Stay safe Bernie.

Was Bernie giving a fantasizing speech in Des Moines about a woman having sex with five men at once? If so, it helps explain the 1,100 cheering Democrats that showed up in that gym.

Bernie is a European-style socialist. Hillary Clinton is a supporter of kleptocratic crony capitalism. Both are enemies of free market economics, but I also think there is a fundamental difference in their priorities. Bernie primarily wants to play Robin Hood and redistribute wealth to the poor. Hillary will also do this to please her inner-city constituency, but her main priority is redistributing taxpayer dollars to crony Wall Street firms.

I agree ek- My views are that corruption, crony capitalism, inherent lack of ethics in leadership, and extraordinarily rich global corporations and oligarchs that have come to consider bribery of politicians as their right and MO along with creation of policy that specifically benefits them, often counter to responsible government of and for the people. I like rich when it creates jobs honestly. I don’t like it when it corrupts the system and takes our money in bailouts as did Wall St in 2008-9.

I respect Bernie Sanders because he appears honest with a consistent message. Hillary OTOH is a lying political animal of the worst kind.

Actually the italicized comments in your post were not mine but a reply to me which I also agree with. Thanks for the reply.

This is why there's increasingly no significant difference between mainstream Republicans and Democrats. They may call each other names over some sideshow scandal of the week, but they fundamentally agree on how the economy and political system should be run except for details and rhetoric. That's why TARP had bipartisan support in 2008/9, why most establishment Republicans sing the same tune on immigration as Democrats, and why Obama has managed to get even his loudest Republican critics on board with TPA.

I respect Bernie Sanders because he appears honest with a consistent message. Hillary OTOH is a lying political animal of the worst kind.

I wish that the Presidential elections gave people a choice between an authentic economic libertarian vs. a Euro-style socialist rather than another probable non-choice between a Bush and a Clinton and their kleptocratic cronies.
