This is not the first time I've opined on the Confederate flag issue. But hopefully it is the last.
As a southerner whose roots in Georgia run way before the Civil War on both my mother's and father's side, I'm pretty sure I would qualify for any of those "Sons Of" groups related to the old Confederacy out there. And I know some readers think I qualify for another "Son of a..." title from time to time! But that's OK, too.
I personally never felt a vested interest in the Civil War, either. Other than to mourn the loss of many a distant family member who fought or died in that sad debacle that cost so many American lives, I rarely have given it a thought. And when I do, I do so with a respect for history, but also a twinge of embarrassment for at least part of what provoked Americans to fight Americans: slavery.
In 1993, as a youthful legislator in Georgia, I joined then-Gov. Zell Miller in a failed attempt to remove the Confederate battle flag emblem from Georgia's state flag. Years later, another brave Georgia governor, Roy Barnes, successfully pushed through what Miller started and totally revamped Georgia's flag.

Which means, if you want that flag, get ready to either put it in a private collection or a museum.
If I had one, it'd fly from a pole at6tached to my pick'm'up
Odd ... a month or so ago I thought about getting one to go under my American flag and decided against it because my pole is just the right height for the 3X5 Colors I fly now and another below it would aesthetically require a longer pole
God was talkin' t'me and once again I didn't listen.
There is a huge Confederate battle flag flying on a hill owned by the Sons of the Confederacy just outside Monthomery. It is right beside I 65 and is impossible to miss when you drive by. Don’t think that one is going anywhere.
It’s shocking how easily the media shapes public opinion.
There’s a lot of complex politics tied up with the Dixie flag.
The mischief that is now being blamed on it is something that arose wholly under Democrats, who are still engaging in bigotry although it is now the soft bigotry of low expectations and enforced with shackles of gold.
Or, how easily public opinion follows propaganda that is so shallow.
We have the biggest, 30ft x 50ft, in Brandon FL, intersection of I4 and I75.
Well maybe you might give the Man Upstairs a ringy-dingy and ask, how would a flag with a Christian cross on it look?
While modern day slavery thrives in Africa and blacks abort a third of their unborn and slaughter each other in American cities, the race whores focus on a flag.
This is all a f***ing sham, designed to demoralize and divide.
They don’t have any real answer, because that would require looking to God, who is on their hate list now along with rednecks and RKBA and bibles etc.
This flag banning is a top level issue
I don’t think the Bubba Rednecks will back it.
I am waiting for the backlash.
This has motivated me. I have a 28 foot steel flag pole that is going in the front yard on our hill. I will put yard arms on it and fly the Army of Virginia Battle Flag and the Gadsden below Old Glory.
The public did not demand the flag to be discontinued, but the demonstration(s) of a bought few ... who probably never thought it would actually happen.
If anyone knows any of these people ... please ... knock 'em in the head for me.
In the true definition of the word .... numbskulls
I don’t know a man upstairs, but I’ll ask Dad .. (ABBA, father)
That's the way the democrats built them
The country is currently in a state of mass insanity.
I send Amazon.com an email to let them know that although I have never been interested on the stars and bars flag and still am not, but that I will never order another item from them because they keep Nazi merchandise in stock for sale. I told them that the Nazi Regime was the true hate regime, not the southern states
“Its shocking how easily the media shapes public opinion.”
The media have an agenda, we understand that. It is the number of compliant sheeple that truly shocks me. The speed at which this has happened convinces me the country is ripe for a total dictatorship. Freedom is being traded for a totalitarian welfare state.
Stone Mountain will have to go next. Can’t have Jackson, Lee and Davis so prominently displayed. To hell with history..
