EXCLUSIVE — TED CRUZ: OBAMATRADE ENMESHED IN CORRUPT, BACKROOM DEALINGS
Breitbart ^ | 23 June 2015 | Ted Cruz

Posted on 06/23/2015 4:29:02 AM PDT by Leto

As a general matter, I agree (as did Ronald Reagan) that free trade is good for America; when we open up foreign markets, it helps American farmers, ranchers, and manufacturers. But TPA in this Congress has become enmeshed in corrupt Washington backroom deal-making, along with serious concerns that it would open up the potential for sweeping changes in our laws that trade agreements typically do not include. Since the Senate first voted on TPA, there have been two material changes. First, WikiLeaks subsequently revealed new troubling information regarding the Trade in Services Agreement, or TiSA, one of the trade deals being negotiated by Obama. Despite the administration’s public assurances that it was not negotiating on immigration, several chapters of the TiSA draft posted online explicitly contained potential changes in federal immigration law. TPA would cover TiSA, and therefore these changes would presumably be subject to be fast-track. When TPA last came up for a vote, both Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL)80% and I introduced amendments that would have barred fast-track treatment for any trade agreement that attempted to impact immigration law. Two other Republican senators objected, and we were both denied votes on our amendments. Instead, the House inserted substantially weaker language in related legislation.

I just called Corker and Alexander’s offices to ask them to vote “NAY”. Last week I asked them to vote in favor only if it had the Cruz language in it, but with the other backdoor mess that has come over from the House, and McConnell’s shenanigans, I asked they vote against.

They are both Rinos but at least, I tried.

Cruz has never supported TPP. It is not complete yet. I don’t expect him to vote in favor of it.

If you are tslking about TPA, it is not secret and never has been.

Listen, grasshopper:
The SECRET Obama-empowering, Constitution destroying,
bill was divided into three pieces, reportedly by
Boehner, to get it to pass.

Toast’ed Cruz is complicit, and many of us are
embarrassed that we ever supported
the SECRECY-loving conflict-of-interest phoney.

Keep trying troll! Here it is again (and I won’t stop getting in your face with it):

WHY DID SENATOR JEFF SESSIONS VOTE ‘Y-E-S’ ON THE ‘SECRET’ IRAN DEAL?

You won’t answer it because it destroys your little squirmy argument against Senator Cruz.

"It will be interesting to see."

Jeff Sessions is an insightful and brilliant man.

He gave all these Senators a way out with his "revelations" on matters that everyone knew about already.

Personally, I don't believe ALL the Cruz supporters were wrong. I believe they were endeavoring to put the most conservative man in the office, near as they could tell.

And I believe Ted Cruz deceived them and left THEM holding the bag. There were still supporters on this forum advocating for TPA at the moment Cruz released his opposition.

A filthy and dastardly betrayal.

Yes, because of TPA’s lowering of the needed votes, support for TPA is support for TPP. It is either stupid or evil no matter who the President is.

Are you talking about this bill? .....

Iran Nuclear Agreement - Passage - Vote Passed (98-1, 1 Not Voting)

The Senate passed a bill that would give Congress the right to deny Iran relief from statutory sanctions if two-thirds majorities from both chambers oppose the terms of a final nuclear deal. The bill would also require detailed reports on Iran’s support of global terrorism and fulfillment of commitments under any agreement.

Sen. Richard Shelby voted YES
Sen. Jeff Sessions voted YES

********

Just trying to determine if this is what you keep posting about. Thanks.

Nonsense! TPA is not the problem. It’s the people working the trade deals now that will use TPA that are the problem.

TPA in 2017 is good for America if a conservative is president and you can bet the farm that Senator Jeff Sessions will vote for TPA then.

Explain how Ted Cruz is helping McConnell or Obama with anything.

Help us out, here....

How is supporting ANY trade agreement, under 0bama and McConnell, NOT supporting these two??

No, it’s you who doesn’t know Cruz well enough. Stuff your assumptions. I am still 110% behind Cruz just am anxious to hear _his_explanation. You aren’t offering explanation I wish you’d stop...you’re not helping Cruz.

We are all entitled to our opinions. I see that I'm helping Cruz, but you don't. Why do I want to stop helping him?

The TPA vote (procedural) has passed.

McConnell says they are doing it to help Obama.

Yep, and it just passed in the corrupt Senate. Wonder if they stuck keeping the EX-IM bank in there, too? This country is lost.

TPA in 2017 is good for America if a conservative is president and you can bet the farm that Senator Jeff Sessions will vote for TPA then.

Sessions is opposing TPA because of the provisions in TPP and the other agreements being negotiated. He would not support TPA in the future with the same sort of trade bills pending.

And you conveniently overlook the fact that Sessions is one of only four or five Republicans who opposed TPA. Republicans support these trade agreements and have for years. Having a Republican, or conservative president will not change that. Sessions is one of the few who is not owned by the big donor, transnational corporations.
