The Obamacare ruling today by the USSC was another point of proof that I offer up to you that there is zero difference between an (R) or a (D) politician. Roberts was a Bush appointee in case you didn’t know.
So a “cloture” vote is not voting FOR the bill itself, but for voting to continue or set a time limit for consideration of a bill.
We. all. know. this. Maybe I can explain to you why I am so disappointed in this vote.
We have a speaker of the house who punishes representatives who vote in accordance with representing their district.
We have a majority senate leader who cheats in primaries, and had this to say on Jan 7.
“We’re in active discussion on TPA,” said McConnell, adding, “It’s an enormous grant of power, obviously, from a Republican Congress to a Democratic president, but that’s how much we believe in trade as an important part of America’s economy.”
We have a president, who is actively trying to destroy our country.
I voted for Cruz in the primary, the runoff and the general because I thought he got this. I thought he saw how corrupt our govt. had gotten, and would work to stop it.
The tpa besides starting a timer, also changes the necessary voting requirements to simple majority.
Why would anybody lower the threshold with these 3 people in power? I don’t care what amendments Cruz had in the bill. There is a 60 day window, this group of people change bills in the middle of the night and expect a vote in the a.m. As far as the dems being against it because of labor unions, yeah right. I am sure this administration would never go to them and say psst.... vote for this, and I will take care of the part about the unions after passage, because that has never happened before. /s
And at the end of the day, when all this is done, what will congress do about it? NOTHING.
Cruz should have never trusted that this group of people would not cheat, lie or steal, they will. it should have always been a no vote, no matter what was in it.
The problem with that idea, though, is that even if you walk away, others won’t....

There will always be those folks who think that they know how to better run your life, as well as those on our side who believe that “this time will be different” and that we can elect better kleptocrats. God Bless them. Let them spend their time, so long as they’re not wasting mine or ours.
What I’m proposing is more of an end run. Not with the goal of improving the kleptocrats, but with the goal of rendering them irrelevant.
