A shooting at a historic black church in Charleston, South Carolina, on Wednesday has shaken the country, leaving many reflecting on the state of race relations in the United States.
Nine people, including Rev. Clementa Pinckney, the church's pastor and a South Carolina state senator, were shot to death by accused gunman Dylann Storm Roof at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church. Authorities have called the shooting a hate crime.
But how does one explain such a crime from a scientific perspective? What could lead someone to commit a racially motivated hate crime? What is racism -- and how can we as a society overcome it?
HuffPost Science posed those questions and others on Thursday to Dr. R. L'Heureux Lewis-McCoy, an associate professor of sociology at The City College of New York and author of the book Inequality in the Promised Land.
From a sociology perspective, how would you define racism?
I would define racism as a system of social advantages and disadvantages doled out based upon group membership, particularly what we have socially defined as races. Among sociologists, we also talk about a newer form of racism known as "colorblind racism" (Eduardo Bonilla-Silva pioneered this work) that emerged after the 1960s, where the outward expression of racial animus and explicit discriminatory laws have been silenced or removed, but unfair racial advantages or disadvantages are still doled out, despite few people admitting to being devout racists....

The actual numbers kept by the FBI show the truth about race and crime and it is not what is popular. It is just the opposite of what the media keeps telling us.
One of these sick killers picked a school. Another picked a theater. Another picked a political event. This one picked a church.
They're kinda like inkblot killings.
All the targets were close by. There was some connection to each target. All these killers had been recognized as "weird" for want of a better definition.
And all wanted public recognition.
It was all about mass killing...not race.
And they almost never pick a venue that might be full of people who can and will fight back....
Take an American of African descent and stand him next to an American of European descent.
You will notice a few cosmetic differences.
You will notice millions of biological similarities.
I choose to see the similarities.
There are people who focus on the few differences. Some do it for money.
I dont know about those. Will have to look them up. There was a case where a white couple was HORRIFICALLY raped tortured and tossed like garbage. Wasn’t national news. No mention of a hate crime.

I cannot find the article but, I read somewhere today that 31 of the most recent mass killings have been committed by persons on psychiatric drugs. And that psychiatrists tell LE to hide that from the public in fear that those on the drugs may stop using them.
As you read you realize that racism has been redefined so broadly that it can never be considered absent from our society.
If every person doesn’t live in the same exact type household, have the exact same salary, live in exactly the same type neighborhood... (and on and on it goes), there’s some form of racism at play.
Then you realize also, that if by some miracle everyone was given the exact same type home, the same exact type neighborhood, the same exact income, and all the requisite perks equally across the board, it wouldn’t take six months before there would be massive inequities again.
These so-called or perhaps more importantly percieved experts (because of how much they now...) influence the paradigm incredibly. However, that is not bad, because of who they are, the color of their skin. They have that membership card. Their voice counts, because of affirmative action or not.
Others need not apply. We know they would only lie anyway, because they are biased. Thankfully these two couldn’t be. /s

Yes why can’t people see what the news media is doing? this is only 1 incident. But the media goes on and on about it. why don’t people see that the media is the enemy of every American and every individual and fight the enemy ?

I hadn't realized just how evil the news media are . they are truly the enemy . the least of what they do is cherry pick single events like mass shootings to make them the top news to advance their socialist anti freedom agenda. also the news media put out propaganda as news to keep the individual weak ,small distracted and poor etc. so they will be dependent on govenrment
As Rush said there is no news AT ALL. sure here on the Internet we some of what is really going on but 90% of
Americans think the news is this mass shooting event when less than 100 people die annually from mass shootings. compare this to 40,000 Americans dying in car accidents annually ,2 million from cancer yearly, 2.5 million burglaries yearly etc.
Here I have only wrote a little bit of what I found out the news media is doing to us. there is much more and it's astonishing and is what I meant about me breaking out of the media brainwashing . Pure evil doesn't even describe the news media creeps.
