Rush Limbaugh woes continue, as Foes celebrate ratings slide
National Ledger ^ | 06/18/2015

Rush Limbaugh's woes in the ratings game of partisan talk radio are being highlighted by his left-wing enemies, Media Matters is gleefully reporting that the radio talk show host is on a downward slide.

Salon puts this headline on the piece, "Rush Limbaugh’s downward spiral continues: Another demotion, another step toward irrelevancy."

The piece highlights a recent move down the radio dial Limbaugh was forced to make after being dumped by his host station in Boston, Mass.

Limbaugh is still on the air in Boston but the conservative radio talk show has a new AM home in the city and it "currently boasts a 0.6 rating, trails four non-commercial stations in the market, and becomes yet another big-city, cellar-dwelling outpost that Limbaugh is forced to call home," Salon reports.

The have a lot more Rush bashing here.

Earlier, the New York Daily News revealed that sagging ratings might mean less money for Limbaugh in his next contract noting that "the ratings for syndicated conservative talk have flattened or dropped for several years, despite the gift of a Democratic President to hammer, and some think the format is wearing down."

Daryl Parks, a former talk host, media blogger and self-described Republican is quoted by NYDN and has the opinion that the schtick is wearing thin,

“Today’s talk radio is fast fading into the sunset because of a format stuck with 1990s rhetoric,” he says.

“A constant right-wing political drumbeat no longer resonates.”

The article notes that Rush "lost many advertisers after the Sandra Fluke birth control controversy in 2012, and that could affect what his syndicator, Premiere, will offer when his eight-year, $50 million a year deal expires in 2016."

Despite the ratings woes and aging demographics for the show he is still the "face of syndicated conservative talk radio," according to the NYDN.

Point being is that the Liberals control all of the other media, with the exception of radio, and their reach is much more than radio could ever hope to be.

That’s why Rush said, “We don’t need equal time....I AM equal time.”

Rush will only go so far. It obviously pains him very much to badmouth a republican and he’s pretty lukewarm when discussing the establishment. Even though he knows exactly what is going on, he just won’t go there. He stops short.

He has been trying lately to take it to the level that he needs to be on, because he is aware his listeners are already there.

This is why so many of us turn to Savage and others who aren’t afraid, or aren’t bought and paid for yet, to dig deeper into the story.

Yet revenues in radio are dropping everywhere as younger people eschew it in favor of online services (my 23 year old does not even own a radio).

The elephant in the room. Radio is being hit like newspapers and magazines.

I’m really sorry. Savage is just not my cup of tea.
That Kuhner fellow has made some interesting interviews and I would like to hear more from him, but he is not in my listening area.
Let’s face it Rush is/was the classiest and most informative host around. I cannot tell you how much I miss him.

"Dog-whistle much?"

Which means what? Men of my generation either served during our war or they didn't. Rush didn't. He had butt cysts.

It is nicely convenient that he is a highly-paid "personality" but when it counted, he let somebody else do his duty.

"Limbaugh has done more to advance our movement than any other living American."

Really? Gushing like that might win you a free Apple product if you give him a call.

This guy is unbelievable! Today, it took EXACTLY less than two minutes to wander off to baseball!

I’m done with him. He’s not relevant anymore

I’m limited on how much savage I can manage, and he too has his issues that sidetracks him. There are others on radio or i heart whose names I cannot mention who go further than Rush.

But yes, Rush has a lock on classy and he definitely fills the biggest niche (if it can be called that) because he is the recruiter that we need that brings new people over to realize they are conservative.

Rush is the man who can handle 95% of conservatives. And he definitely is the man who turns most liberals who turn conservative. There is no other who can do what he does.

The thing about Rush losing audience didn’t ring true to me on the whole. He might be losing some of us who want to go the next level but I bet we are more than being made up for with new recruits.

I sent Rush a note back when he first presented his Father’s “Sacred Honor” speech. I wrote where is your sacred honor - get out from behind the microphone and use your substantial assets to fight the left as an activist leader.

...but alas, talk radio is not walk radio. Instead, Rushes next appearance on TV was on the Haney Project where Rush received golf instruction. He really missed an opportunity.

Who in the hell are you calling pansy? Listen to him? I have and did for longer than you’ve been a member here. As long as you.

His “off” days are more frequent than his “on” days and I don’t give a crap about his ratings according to some rating service. I know what I’ve heard and then turned off.. He just isn’t up to it any more. First two minutes today he diverted off into some baseball crap.

YEP.

I WOULDN’T be surprised if Rush Retires after the 2016 election. OTOH, he may find he wants to continue to battle....maybe he will be Trumps VP?

Should probably note that this thread is now 3x as long as the typical daily Rush Limbaugh Show Thread here on FR.

....exactly.
Rush is soooo much more relevant on his WEAKEST day than Salon will be in its cumulative history.

For these hacks to call him irrelevant is truly laughably childish, showing their immaturity.
